Burnout Revenge is possibly -the- best racer ever made.

Created: 29/12/08
High speed frenetic stylized hyperaggressive combat racing. There's really nothing else to be said. If you don't own this game you should. Burnout's a great series and Revenge is its pinnacle. You occasionally get people who complain about it not being 'realistic' but if I wanted realism I wouldn't be playing video games, honestly. And it's realistic =enough= to feel like you're really screaming around the streets of Tokyo in a Ferrari.

Each of the modes is exciting and fun. =Very= rarely a level can be frustrating, but it's usually more to do with getting stuck on a single event than an actual failing on the part of its design

Other things to note: The soundtrack is for the most part composed of fast paced fist pumping rock tunes which fit the feel of the game very well. The tracks are for the most part winners. The only major complaint I have is not being able to play a certain track if you really want to hear it, but that's not really a biggie. During gameplay there's usually enough choices of events to play if you for instance don't really feel like doing a time trial race right now, or you're stuck on a certain event, you can always go and play something else first and come back to it later when you're more in the mood or you've got a better car to tackle the level with.

This is one of my favorite games and if it's not one of yours, you just don't like racing games, hands down.

Not too bad!

I've played the Burnout: 3 demo in past, and my friends couldn't stop playing the one stage over and over again! I decided to purchase this title, since I skipped out on Burnout: 3, and I wasn't disappointed! The same basic concept is in this one as the 3rd....destroy cars!! There's little more to do in this title, as the other types of "races" keep you interested!

To start, there are a couple of ways to play during a "career mode". Race, which of course is first to the finish, smashing and shunting your way to victory. Crash, which they give you a section of a busy road and your object is to cause as much chaos as possible and creating a BIG dollar amount of damage to earn your gold medal. Road Rage, take out as many cars as possible, and they give you a set amount of cars to wreck to get your medal.

Gameplay is fun, but of course if you overplay it in one day you may get a little bored. It is definitely a "get-your-friends-over-with-some-beer-and-blow-crap-up&quot; type of game! :) Controls are easy, and if you're going 180 MPH...you REALLY feel like you're going that fast as the environment FLIES past you!

The graphics are subpar, as they could be better....but at 175 MPH it's hard to spot good graphics! The loading times are AWFUL, as it takes FOREVER to load the races and if you want to RETRY...you're in for the FULL load time once again. The only race it doesn't "reload" are the Crash type races.

Online with this game is pretty fun, but most of the races are 5-6 race sets and if you get in a group with people that are awesome at this game (and there are a LOT of them!) then you're stuck with them for 5 or so races! There is absolutely NO lag time or delay in controls on a good broadband connection, and getting in a race is easy and fast. Everybody online also has "crash" and "race" ratings so you know who's good at what.

Overall, if you can get this game for a good price it's worth it, especially for a party kind of game. As for one-player replay value after you're done with it, I'm not sure it would hold true.

addicting game!!!

Created: 21/03/06
I had a friend pick out Burnout 3: Takedown while tryign to figure out which game to play for the weekend. He really had no idea what to expect and I didn't either. Fast forward a month later and I was still in love with the game and trying to get past everything.

I just picked this newest version a couple of nights ago and wow, it's like a whole new game, well, it is, but yeah! It's more difficult, new additions like shunting cars like never before and the crash part of the game got an uplift as far as boosting goes.

As mentioned in other reviews, if you're into need for speed games or gran turismo, this may or may not be for you. This game is aggressive and far more intense than those games. I was never one to move the controller around when playing games, but this series of games has me looking like a 7 year old in front of the TV.

If you aren't sure about this game, go rent it and fall in love and then buy it, wow, the fun never ends...

This Is Racing

Created: 08/10/06
I would give this game better than 5/5 but we can't cause this game deserves much more than 5/5. This is a game where racing is defined and stated to all other games. You can crah them shunt them, slam the, takedown with cars and get them from above. Then most of all, you can blow up yourself to get them. The many tracks and songs create an atmosphere of crashing and destruction. Then when you get taken out you can get them back by means of a red triangle above the car so you can plan your next attack on them. When you slam them or shunt its called rival shunt/slam and when you take'em down you get "revenge" on them. They hit you into a wall or corner and you get dead even then & there you get instant revenge. This is a high speed thrilling racing game that you can hardly put down. Traffic checking vehicles behind will net you boost and aim just right, a takedown or skill shot. You get rated on how you do when you race. So if you are just being a sissy and not taking risks and going the speed limit, don't expect a gold or even higher than OK. People that want to give in to their inner road rage or stress can get even with others or A.I. controllers. The many different modes will often give you what you crave or would like to do.You can net most cars without any type of difficulty unless you are later on in the game. This game, said before, DEFINES RACING.

Burnout Revenge is not just a racing game

Created: 10/02/09
Burnout Revenge presents a variety of events and challenges that entertain any kind of gamer. The Crash events are puzzles, as are figuring out all of the short-cuts and ways to get different special takedowns. This is not to say that the game doesn't have the fast-action and thrills of a race at 200mph through opposing traffic in cities based on Rome, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Detroit, Miami, and others. It is easy enough to get bronze medals that you won't get frustrated trying to progress through the game and unlock new levels and cars, but it is hard enough to get gold medals that even the very skilled will stay interested in the game trying to get gold in every event. Also, though the game involves a lot of crashing into cars, there are no visible people anywhere. My friends and I decided that the game takes place on a planet similar to Earth, but populated by robots. So, do not be concerned about seeing people hurt or afraid.
