Cactus - Live (DVD, 2007)

I have always liked Cactus but for years I could not find a DVD of this band but not any more. The song 'Evil' reminds me of my teen years so it brought back some very old memories of how I used to go into my older brothers bedroom and play his stereo full blast. Of course mom and dad were out. It is the first live recording of the group in 30 yrs in front of a New York audience. The band is almost all original with the likes of bassist Tim Bogert, drummer Carmine Appice and guitarist Jim McCarty sadly the original lead singer Rusty Day is deceased and was replaced by Jimmy Kunes who does a fantastic job filling Rusty's shoes. This is a high energy band banging out great boogie based blues rock. The audio and video quality are very good. So you know what to do, kick back and crank it up!

I guess if your reading this you know who these guys are. If you know who these guys are and like the band, you need to see this show. You get 3 out of 4 original members. Jim McCarty on guitar is better than ever, most leads are note for note off the records which everyone likes to hear. Tim Bogert, bass & Carmine Appice, drums drive these rockin' classic tunes like only they can. Jimmy Kunes replaces vocalist Rusty Day and does a damn good job. The boys are a top notch high energy rocking boogie band that keeps your foot a tappin. The highlight of the DVD for me is "One way or another" better the original recording. 4 stars.

I loved the DVD - Excellent Musicians playing at there best - Kunes is not the Singer Rusty was but Does do Rusty Justice - this is Just Great Rock and Roll Capture at it's best in a small Club - EXCELLENT SOUND - GREAT PICTURE Enjoy
