The world stands on the brink, and Makarov is intent on bringing civilization to its knees. In this darkest hour, are you willing to do what is necessary?
Co-developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, Modern Warfare 3 delivers a full assault on gamers' senses, including an intense single-player campaign that picks up immediately following the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and escalates into World War 3, as well as groundbreaking upgrades to the beloved Special Ops like the all-new Survival Mode. Special Ops serves as the perfect springboard to Modern Warfare 3's re-imagined multiplayer, featuring the series' trademark visceral gun-on-gun combat, a revamped point streak system with the introduction of "Strike Packages," devastating new modes like "Kill Confirmed" and other game play enhancements, new features and a bevy of new weapons, equipment, and perks.

Stale, boring console shooter with little appeal

I bought this game for about $27. I would never pay more than $30 for this game because it's awful. The multiplayer is a copy of the same crap from MW2. I thought the singleplayer would be good, but that was awful too. Honestly, CoD's singleplayer usuually isn't that bad (with the exception of Black Ops) but the singleplayer in MW3 was terrible. I felt like I was just following people around the whole time.
The one good thing about this game is the co op. I don't think they put as much effort in to it as they did with MW2, but it's still not too bad. Plus it's hard to find a good co op shooter these days, so it's a welcome addition.
Overall if you're looking for a Modern Shooter, this isn't the best choice. It's one prime example of console gamers ruining shooters. If you're looking for a good multiplayer FPS, try Counter Strike Source - one of the most played games on Steam (at the time of writing) and it's been out for years and years. Can't argue with that.

Modern Warfare 3 is the latest Call of Duty to confirm our suspicions, Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward have clearly given up on producing quality pieces and have gone the way of EA.
Let's ignore the pathetic excuse of a story and single player, since the majority of people buying this will be for the multiplayer, of which suffers from a myriad of issues.
1. No dedicated servers, lobbies and lag galore. I Have 12MB Comcast connection, and I still get stuck in games of 100ms+.
2. Unbalanced weapons and perks. 90% of players will be using Akimbo automatic pistols + PP custom. Why? Because they are the highest tier and the developers clearly made little thought, if any, into producing a balanced weapon system. Perk wise, when you die, the other person will almost have Assassin Pro and Extreme Conditioning a part of their perks. It honestly feels like the rest of the perks and weapons are fillers.
There's a couple other network issues that's prevalent, but these 2 pretty much take the cake.

Overall, this game is good, with excellent graphics and (somewhat) balanced multiplayer, but for someone new to COD, this game is pretty much a nightmare. Unlike many past COD games, there is no "Combat Training" and you are simply launched into Multiplayer(or Campaign/Special Ops, but most people start with Multiplayer). When a cousin of mine started the franchise with this game, for the first week or so, with no instructions other than a flimsy instruction manual, it took him a week to bring his KDR above 0.2. A good game, but bad for beginners overall.
