Game Special Features
  • Call of Duty 4 Technology – Built using the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War utilizes a bedrock of technology that delivers jaw-dropping visuals, while empowering players to employ elements like fire to affect the dynamics of the battlefield. Players that attempt to harness the power of new weapons, like the flamethrower, will find themselves capable of burning away environmental elements that give cover to a camouflaged enemy, leaving a charred battlefield – and their foes – in their wake
  • Coordinated Assault and Support – For the first time in the franchise, Call of Duty: World at War introduces co-op, bringing fresh meaning to the No One Fights Alone mantra. Call of Duty: World at War co-op features up to four-players online, or two-player local split-screen, allowing gamers to experience harrowing single-player missions together for greater camaraderie and tactical execution. The title also incorporates traditional multiplayer components such as challenges, rankings and online stats into the co-op campaign for deeper re-playability and advanced gameplay
  • New Theaters of Operation – Players fight as U.S. Marines and Russian soldiers facing enemies – some new to the Call of Duty franchise – that employ lethal new tactics and know no fear, no mercy, nor the rules of war. Epic conflicts are fought on multiple fronts, playing through the climactic battles of WWII in the grittiest, most chaotic and cinematically intense experience to date
  • Innovative Multiplayer – Multiplayer builds from the success of Call of Duty delivering a persistent online experience for more squad based interaction. New development with party systems allows an intimacy with squad based combat never before seen in Call of Duty. Combined infantry and vehicle missions add a new dimension to the online warfare and offers more PERK abilities
  • Cinematic Quality Graphics and Sound – Treyarch's award-winning sound department returns with effects that add to the already immersive cinematic intensity of the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare game engine,

Not as good as COD 4 but good game either way

    Created: 17/11/08
    PROS:
Intense combat situations with lots of booms and bangs everywhere
Great graphics, thanks to the COD 4 engine
Great combat scenarios (inside the Reichtag, Japanese trenches)
Good single player campaign (about 8 hours long)
Great multiplayer, a lot like COD 4 but WWII style
Nazi Zombie Co-op Survival mode is a great add on
Lots of weapons to pick up and swap
The overpowered flamethrower (one shot, all burned!)
The concept of the whole game is a great one

    CONS:
Numerous glitches and bugs (patches are coming out to fix them)
Sometimes the AI is really dumb
Sounds can be a little flat and chunky at times
I many times couldn’t say who was friend and who was foe
Some parts are a little bit cheesy

    OVERALL THOUGHTS:
You can’t speak of this game without mentioning that is almost completely based on Call of Duty 4. It is like playing a WWII total conversion modification of last years best FPS, which in the end is actually a really good thing.

You should know that the developers of this game are the same guys behind Call of Duty 3 (which is considered to be the worst COD in the series). Infinity Ward did not have to do with this project and the lack of polished details shows a lot throughout the game. The game tries to make his own version of COD 4 WWII style, and for parts it works quite well, but it sometimes it just feels a little bit forced. Now don’t get me wrong, this game is pretty good. I had a lot fun with it and the combat intensity for which the COD franchise is known is intact.

Bottom line is that if COD 4 received 95/100, COD: World at War would get an 85/100. It is a great game worth playing, but the numerous glitches and rough edges prevent it to be an excellent game.

Action Packed - But Very Short

    Created: 01/12/08
I give this game an average rating due only to the length of the game. I am not an avid player of first person shooter games, but this one was rated by many to be one of the best, so I tried it. Although the graphics and action were stellar, I beat the game first in the easiest mode, then in the second hardest mode in four evenings. It took me about 8 hours of game play the first time and about 6 the second time. I am now playing the online battles that do add enough extra credence to the game to keep me from giving it a below average rating.

If you like buying a game to experience what it has to offer, then quickly selling it on EBay and purchase your next adventure, then this game fits the bill.

    COD 5 PS3

    Created: 01/09/09
This game rocks! Took a few hours to get use to the controls and screen movements. The graphics, sound, and gameplay are top notched. You start out as a Private and work your way up to General. As you gain experience you will unlock better weapons and perks. You can only level your character playing online against other people. Team deathmatch it the most popular. You can create your team by adding friends with this game before you Find Match.
Friends show as blue arrows and allies show as yellows. Enemies shown as red arrows on the radar.

There are five different classes of primary weapons to chose from. Rifles, machine guns, shotguns, bolt action rifles(sniper), and light machine guns. Not to mention the smoke, gas, frag, and tank grenades. The perks allows planting bombs, faster reloads, and camouflage just to name a few. Additional bonus for kill streaks. 3 kills give you a recon plane to find your enemies on the radar. 5 kills get you an artillery strike. 7 kills allow you to call in the dogs. If the dogs kill people you get the points. This game overall is fun and addictive.

Great game but it's to much like COD 4

    Created: 25/03/09
8.5/10 Graphics(Although this game has better graphics than say halo 3,compared to gears of war 2 it's graphics are put to shame).

9/10 Multiplayer(This game has become the most popular online game on Xbox Live, but they rushed its release, and the gameplay is allot like call of duty 4.

8/10 Campaign(The campaign is fun to beat once, but it's short and definitely is not fun to play more than once).

Im not going to really rate this category, but the price of this game, and other games on ebay are pretty pricey considering you can take about an hour of your time completing surveys at rewards1, and can get this game absolutely free.Go to www.reward-1.webs.com and sign up for more information.Your probably wondering why someone would give away a $45 game absolutely free.Well the truth is rewards1 gets paid for you completing their surveys, but their surveys are relatively quick, and you can earn $50 in points in under an hour!

    Bought it for Nazi Zombies

    Created: 03/12/10
This is a pretty good game! If you are into FPS style games, it is a WWII setting -- which never gets old, IMO -- and has a fairly good campaign. The online play, for both cooperative play and FFA and team-assault is also quite good. The best feature, though -- as I think everyone knows -- is the revolutionary concept of "Nazi Zombies" where 1-4 players locally or online (or a combination of the two!) can team up to survive wave after wave of zombies of increasing difficulty, while acquiring weapons and power-ups along the way.

The only down side I can see is that the map packs are still a bit pricey ($10 a piece or $25 for all three) -- after so much time has passed I feel like they could cut those prices in half ($5 ea or $10 for all 3, say) and it would be good enough for them -- none-the-less each pack comes with an additional Nazi-Zombie map (among other things) which each, in turn, add a new level of depth and richness to the instant classic; worth getting IMO.
