It's a new game
Created: 22/09/06
I was a 7 handicap ten years ago and I've rekindled a passion for the game with this club. Bought a slightly used Fusion, neutral, Aldila NV stiff. Was a little annoyed by a few scratches on the head, but after hitting it off the first tee yesterday, those blemishes are no longer visible. Wow, what a driver. I've owned a number of drivers over the years, (9* BB, 10* Zebra, TaylorMade DF 10*, 10* Hawkeye to name a few) but nothing compares to this club. Easily gained 25 yards off the tee, and hit every approach shot from the fairway. Slight fades and draws are easily produced as needed.
Features I especially like are:
- easy set-up, and nice top-line calms me at address.
- truly refined weighting, which is really satisfying on the down-swing
when it feels like the club automatically stays on plane. That feather-
light weighting found in other Callaways just doesn't apply to the Fusion.
- solid sound at impact... this ain't no tin can!
- nice factory grip, an improvement over past Callaway purchases.
- nice trajectory, not too high.
All of this produces one very special element in this game: confidence.
Play better, have more fun!

Improved my game...

The new Callaway Fusion FT-3 is a great club. I researched this club to the point of obession and once I found it on ebay at some great prices I had to have it. I lost two bids and almost gave up on it. The club is in great demand. I finally won a bid, received it in a matter of days just in time to go on a golf trip, I didn't even have the chance to take it to the driving range. We got to the course and I removed the plastic which it came in. On the first tee box, my first swing of the day, I drove it about 280 yards. A pretty good drive for me, but nothing to get too excited about. After warming up a bit I noticed my drives were straighter and my distance was improving. In a stretch of six holes (all driving holes), all were over 300 yards and in the middle of the fairway (no lie). My longest was a whopping 356 yards on a 525 yard par 5, which left me 169 yards out. I was so pumped up and full of adrenalin that I pulled out my nine iron and came up short.
To sum it up; I believe this club will change my game dramatically. I'm about a 9 or 10 handicap and with this club I can see myself lowering that very soon. I recommend this club to all levels of golfers. It comes in a variety of club head set-ups, Neutral, Draw or Fade which allow you to take advantage of your natural swing. The distinct sound it makes off the tee box will turn heads. I naturally draw the ball so I went with a 9.5 Neutral to promote more of a straighter drive, but allowing me to still draw when necessary. The shaft of choice was the Aldila NV 65 Stiff shaft. All-in-al I love the club. Heck, if it's good enough for Phil, it's good enough for me!

Callaway Big Bertha Fusion FT-3 Driver
Created: 09/08/06
I'm a 55 year old 12 handicapp golfer that has always had trouble keeping my drives in the fairway. Instead of pulling out the "big-dog" most of the time I opeted for the 3 wood. Less distance but more chance of straighter shots. I saw the FT-3 driver at my local club one weekend when all of the club manufacturer's came for a day and set up booths to promote their products. Since I use Callaway irons I thought "what the heck". I love the X18's I play with so I might as well try this new modern day marvel. I hit both the neutral and the draw clubs as well as the 55 and 65 shaft. I never hit a driver as well as I did with the neutral 9 deg, stiff flex with the 65 shaft. Now, after playing with it a couple of months I no longer dread pulling up to the tee box and wonder what to hit. The club, with just an average swing, hits long and true shots. I can easily drive the ball 260 to 270 yards and feel like I can put it where I want it which adds for greater course management. This is a club I will keep in my bag forever. It's forgiving, feels great when addressing the ball and gives me the confidence that I've lacked for many years off the tee. Thanks Callaway for making a twice a week player have a much better time on the course and giving me more confidence as well as distance and a great feeling of having less frustration off of the tee. Moreover, a chance for me to improve my golf game.

FT-3 11* Draw with Callaway-Aldila NVS55 Regular
Created: 07/10/06
The FT-3 driver seems to represent a true breakthrough in technology for Callaway. The combination of the composite head coupled with a slightly weaker NVS55 regular shaft is good for most of the golfers with normal driver swing speeds of say ~90mph. I am a fairly good senior golfer who shoots in the 70's to 80's and hits the ball straight most of the time. To be honest, I have not liked Callaway drivers over the last few years at all with the single exception of the classic Big Bertha driver. The C4 and ERC were not very good drivers but I think the FT-3's are a very different animal and a huge improvement. I look forward to what Callaway comes out with next as a replacement. By the way, I own a 10* and I purchased an 11* FT-3 draw to increase my ball height and it works terrific.... msianbear

great club callaway FT-3 fusion driver
Created: 05/07/06
I like the distance, with a good shot off the tee, your game will be better. I have had so much trouble off the tee in past years, I stooped playing for about 4 years. After I put clubs in car and on way to course, I`m thinking about my tee shot? Where is it going? I was upset before I got to the course, for me the fun of the game was gone. Every one gets a little up set with a bad shot, its only humane nature, So I`m looking at the callaway web site for clubs, and I saw that Phil and Anika use a big bertha FT-3 fusion driver, I went on ebay and found one, my long irons and short game are ok, and now with a tee shot, my game is so much better. If a tee shot is what your`e looking for, find a place with demo clubs and try this driver I think you will be amazed. thank you robertm
