Corenflos, Michael Daly.Although Pat Green has always striven to be his generation's answer to the great Texas country singer-songwriters of the 1970s like Waylon Jennings and Jerry Jeff Walker, on CANNONBALL--his eighth studio outing--he comes off more like the Lone Star State's answer to Bruce Springsteen. He even shouts out the Boss on "Feels Just Like It Should." The Texas-working-class-bard approach works, thanks to a rootsy, yet arena-ready band, the deft production work of Don Gehman--who as John Mellencamp's frequent collaborator knows a thing or two about Springsteen love--and the undeniable strengths of Green's songwriting.

Being one of the lucky few, I received my copy of Cannonball in the mail this past Saturday (9/19).
I know the guy and could never say a mean thing about him, but this album is VERY different from the "classic" Pat (Dancehall Dreamer, Three Days, Live at Billy Bob's, etc.). It's mostly got a pop, upbeat, rock feel to it. There are a few tracks, maybe 4 or 5 at the most, that I really like. Especially track 8, "Finders Keepers," a duet with Miss Sara Evans. GREAT stuff - they harmonize beautifully and the music just rocks!!
His first single, "Feels Just Like It Should," is growing on me each time that I put the CD in, but when I first heard it, I didn't like it at all.
A friend of mine made a good point, though. This "sound" is what makes him more money. And as long as he doesn't get a big head about it all, like several I could name off the top of my head, it's wonderful that he's able to support his family this way. The guy is SUPER talented and all-around great.

this is a great cd. it got a lot of great songs on it. like Cannonball and Feels Just Like It Should.

This CD is more like my favorites: Three Days and Live at Billie Bobs. More upbeat and what I like in music. His last album did not sound the same so I rarely pllay it. I play his earlier CDs all the time. Also, this sounds more like his band than his last one. Sure do like his earlier upbeat songs.
A great Pat Green album

) I really enjoyed this album. The more I listen to it, the more I love it. I especially love his duet with Sara Evans and Dixie Lullaby. You won't be disappointed if you buy this album.
