Excellent product and extremely functional.

The CanoScan LiDE 200, looks really good on the outside, taking their small size, excellent design and a color "metallic. "
Inside the package, in addition to the scanner itself, we find the USB interface cable, quick start guide, the usual CD-ROM and support that allows us to use the scanner in an upright position.
If you are looking for a cheap flatbed scanner that transforms your photos into high quality digital images, the Canon CanoScan LiDE 200 is a worth a look. This scanner is a sophisticated, compact and produces exceptional scans.
The scanner has four buttons (Scan to file, Copy [scan to the printer], Scan to Email and Scan to PDF) to help initiate scans directly from the same unit, rather than importing them into other applications.
The LiDE 200 has shown an impressive speed. It took only 11 and 15 seconds respectively to scan a 10 by 12 cm photo at 600 dpi and a full-page color document at 300 dpi. The quality of the scans is very good, too, with sharp detail and accurate colors.

Great for the money

The scanner is tiny. It does a great job and does not need any downloaded drivers in windows 7 as long as you do not use the front buttons. To use the front buttons you need to download "MP Navigator EX Ver. 2.03" from the Canon web site. The Navigator program gives you MANY additional features like save as PDF, auto scanning which allows you to scan a text doc and a photo at the same time and it saves each separately and in the proper format! The Navigator program layout is a bit crowded and not to intuitive but after a bit of time you will figure it out. Back to the scanner, no power cord is a plus. I wanted a scanner that just works and this one does. I think you will like it too!

Canon LiDE200 Scanner
Created: 07/07/10
I previously had a Canon Flatbed Scanner. It connected to the computer through a parallel port. I bought a new computer and it has USB ports and rendered my scanner useless, so I bought this one as a replacement. I have found scanners to be very finicky when installing their software and trying to get them to work. I had problems getting this one to install. It took me 4 tries before I was finally successful. I had to remove all of the software for the previous scanner, plus jump through some other hoops before I was able to get this one to work. But once I got all that done, it works just fine. I might add that Canon's web site was helpful in getting this properly installed.

I like this scanner because ...

- Scans fast - The preview and actual scan take the same amount of time
- Quiet
- Accurate and fast OCR - My documents are typewritten and clear, the OCR'd text comes within 1 second of completing scanning, without errors.
- Single cord to the machine (no power cord)
- Software is not 100% intuitive as some controls are not obvious. But has options for removing bleed thru automatically on a page and removing 'specks' from a scan. The result is you can put in a document and get a very, very clear and clean image of a text document without setting contrast, brightness etc.
No negative comments. Of course, if you have many documents, you'll want a document feeder. Not sure if there is one available for this model.
I have not done images and so can't commment.

Portable and Fast

The scanner itself is very light weight. No external power needed to power it up it operates from USB. Once you install the drivers scanning and fast and efficient. The software has a automatic retouch image function which is quite good especially if you are scanning old photos. I was looking for a portable yet fat speed scanner and this one is perfect for me.
