great USB-powered linux scanner
Created: 21/11/08
this scanner is fully supported in Linux (using the Plustek sane backend), unlike many Canon scanners. quality of images is great, with automatic image cleanup and color balance. full resolution scans are a little slow, but this is more than compensated for by not having to connect a separate power supply... the scanner is USB powered. 300 dpi greyscale scans are quick. the plastic case and hinges are well made and durable, and the scanner is compact and light. it fits in a 17" widescreen laptop case perfectly. no complaints about this product, good job Canon.

Excellent low budget scanner for a budding business.

I am restarting my graphic art business on the east coast and online--this scanner has been an excellent tool for helping build my web site.
I used to use the LIDE20 but I figured a little bit of an upgrade would be nice. It has been indispensable in my work the image quality is excellent and stands up to frequent use and light abuse.
I have to take multiple scans of some of my larger creations that are bigger than the dimensions of the scanning bed but I have no problems with pasting them together in Gimp if need be. After finding the software online for my Mac the rest was easy and the hardware is not too difficult to clean since it has to put up with the occasional chalk & charcoal dust, paints and other artists hazards to electronic equipment. This is a very durable economy scanner in my opinion.

Inexpensive and good scanner

I received a Canon CanoScan Lide 30 Flatbed Scanner three days ago. It is a new one and is described exactly as the advertisement of the former owner. It is easy to operate. Its operation is very good, and it gives clear and beautiful copies. I feel satisfation because I bought an inexpensive but good scanner.

Good Old Copier

It was a good buy, but only since I had XP still. Canon decided not to make drivers for Vista or Win 7 so if yo have either one of these find something else.
The copier itself works great and is very simple to use and the software is still available online.
