Canon EOS Rebel G Film camera.

Created: 18/12/08
The Canon EOS Rebel G is a run of the mill, no frills, film camera. They are price around the $20 - $25 range for body only. That's for a one in very nice condition.

If you are a Canon DSLR user, decided to take some photography classes at the local college and realized that the class was about shooting film, this is the camera for you. Same goes for any beginner photography student. You are way better buying a Rebel G or similar for under $30 then digging out that old SLR camera from your dad's closet and trying to get that to work.

It uses the standard EOS EF mount. ...but the lens mount is plastic. Not a huge deal, but if you plan on using the camera with heavy lens, might not be a long term solution. Is has the standard exposure modes, AV, TV, P, M and Auto. Frames per second isn't fast, no spot meter, the viewfinder is small. Like I said eariler, if you need it for some photography classes, it's great. I you are looking to expand your horizons and shoot film along with your digital, I would strongly recommend looking a little higher up on the Canon scale. For not that much more, you can find the Canon EOS A2,A2E,5(Europe Name). It's a semi pro camera, with some really nice features... Metal lens mount, faster frames per second, better over all camera. ...and with the A2E or EOS 5, you get eye control focus. Back in the day, I went from a Rebel to a EOS 5 and loved the move. The A2E/5 models are little bigger and a little more heavy, but not buy much. ...not as heavy as the EOS 1 series. So, in that sense, you can stash it in your photo bag and not notice the extra weight.

So, in summary, the Rebel G is a entry level camera. Anything more than a temporary camera for school, look higher up on the Canon lineup.

Great camera, does quite a lot. Its very light which is a pro when you mount your 50mm, but a con when you mount the 70-200 2.8 (where it feels very off balance). The shutter button is pretty stiff with this camera, but you can get used to it.

you get four "custom settings", beep on/off. bracketing, # of photos per "burst", and another i can't remember. Three autofocus points, and you can switch between the three, but i usually leave it on the middle one. The AF points are hard/impossible to see in low light so its tough to make sure you're getting a precise focus on exactly what you want.

The af assist beam is actually brighter than the one on my digital rebel t2i!

stops are in 1/2 stop increments. If you develop your own film this is fine, if you send it off, you may want 1/3 stop increments.

All for $20 on ebay. pretty good deal.

Very nice 35mm camera!

Created: 12/04/09
The EOS Rebel G is fully automatic, ultra compact, quiet and comes equipped with a built-in retractable flash. It features a high-speed selectable 3-point autofocus system with A1 Focus for improved performance, and Canon's exclusive AIM (Advanced Integrated Multi-Point) control system which links Rebel G's three-point autofocus to multi-zone metering for available light and flash. Offering 11 exposure modes (Full Auto to metered manual with indicator) plus Multiple Exposure, Exposure Compensation and Auto Exposure Bracketing, it has an enhanced Command Dial for operating mode selection, and is fully compatible with Canon's complete line of EF autofocus lenses and EOS System Specialties, including Battery Pack BP-8, Grip Tripod GR-80TP and Remote Switch RS-60E3. New features like Auto Exposure Bracketing (in 1/2 stop increments up to ? 2 stops) and E-TTL Autoflash (enables high-speed synch for automatic fill flash), and improvements like better control of Red-Eye Reduction, the In-Focus Beeper and the Auto Exposure (AE) Lock make the EOS Rebel G the most advanced Rebel yet.

Beautiful Pictures at an Affordable Price

Created: 08/12/07
The Rebel G isa GREAT little camera! It's lightweight, yet packs an impressive amount of features. And, since these have been 'updated' by newer cameras in the Rebel series, they're available at (what I believe is) a bargain price!

I did a fair amount of research, and the newer models are only slightly faster. As for picture quality I think the G is just as good. And in 'full auto' mode, it's basically foolproof!

This is a great camera, easy to use, yet packed with enough features for more 'advanced', or creative photography. I like how all of the Canon Rebel series are easily changed between Auto, Aperture Priority, & Shutter Priority modes. All in all, a versatile, easy to use... and inexpensive!... camera that takes BEAUTIFUL photos!

Not great. The camera I purchased was a little beat up. It had a crack on the digital face. When I put the film in the camera the first time the used camera worked fine. But, after that it could not roll the film properly. The seller stated that the main product for sale was the lens and that the camera itself was just a bonus. But, the bonus did not last long. Other than that major issue. The camera seemed to work fine. The flash worked. The speed between pressing the button and taking the picture was a little slow. But, the pictures turned out all right. And I was pretty pleased with the over all performance of the canon EOS Rebel G.
