Great camera for the price.

We use it horse back riding, road riding on motorcycle and general travels. Nice and light weight, camera is easy to use. My old one was like having and anvil around your neck. Don't even notice this one. If any dislike it would be the software that comes with it. I found it hard to use, and not intuitive. The .mod files is not compatible with a lot of the software I am using, but enough programs out there to convert. Just makes another step in the process to move them up to Utube. ON my own system, they work fine.
I bought it because of the package deal online. It works decent in dim lit places also as we are shooting a lot with it in indoor horse rings. So far, pretty good. Not sure how well the stabilizer will work while out on the trail.
To much snow here right now to try that out.
We like it for our needs.

Canon, the perfect camera for the price!!!

Overall I am very satisfied with this digital camera. It is very affordable with no more tapes or disc. No more tape jams. No more having to lable tapes and storage them. I like the organization that you get when you use memory and it is even easier to transfer to your hard drive than to store in a tape box. This camera has great focus and zoom. Picks up sound very clear as if you where there. I love how it fits in your pocket. Within seconds, I can pull it out of my pocket and hit power and record- its action time. You can view your recordings much easier than having to rewind. If you want to erase, thats simple also. Overall the quality is excellent and you cannot beat the price. We have Canon products overall and have been very satisfied.

Canon's FS200 camcorder
Created: 05/02/10
I was interested in purchasing a small video camera for upcoming vacations. I didn't want to spend much for this type of camera as it will not get a great deal of usage. However, I was seeking quality, and as a very happy owner of a Canon digital camera I leaned toward Canon's products. After reviewing all of the small video cameras offered on the market I came back to the Canon FS200 because of the attributes highlighted in their ads.
I am very happy with my purchase. It's size and quality certainly fit my needs. Again, the Canon people have not let me down.

Canon FS200

This video camera does exactly what it is suppose to do. It is small, easy to use and takes fine videos. This is not high-definition don't expect it. You are not going to get a Ferrari for the price of a Hyundai. Be realistic in your expectations and you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for hi-def be prepared to spend a lot more money.

Canon FS200 is pretty good

Last camcorder I had was a VHS-C. This is so much smaller, yet produces a nice recording. I could not use any old SD card in it, they would not recognize recordings from the previous day! New, fast SDHC cards with fast write times work just fine.
The camera is not very intuitive and there is a significant learning curve. The manual is not that easy to understand. DO NOT buy this camera for an event next week! Buy it at LEAST a month before and get to know it!
You cannot buy the cheap batteries off the internet and get good function. If the battery is not Canon-official, you'll get warning messages and a some features disabled. The camera shows a message that says it "cannot communicate" with the battery. Therefore, a ten dollar battery with a similar capacity is somewhat disabled, compared to the official $60 or $80 Canon battery.
All previous comments I read on this camera suggested that it was a very competent, cost-effective camera. Other than having a "battery-neutering" feature, I think they were correct.
Don't look to this camera to be the latest-greatest, just a good value.
If you ever drop, lose, or get stuff stolen, this camera is a good compromise.
