Canon PowerShot SX130 IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera - Black

I love ALL of Canon's power shot cameras. I have had several and up grade each time I need a new on. This is the most powerful one I have owned yet. I take a lot of wildlife shots and this is great for distance.

I always prefer canon cameras. The photos taken with canon cameras look like more realistic to me then photos taken with other cameras. With buying this model I've got what I expected.

My opinions about this camera;

PROS:
-3.0" LCD
-12X Optical Zoom
-HD(720p) video recording
-Works only with 2 AA-size batteries
-Cool artistic effects
-Manual modes (long aperture time)
-Macro shooting performance
-Night shooting performance
-DSLR look :)


CONS:
-No HDMI output
-Slightly bigger case (not for pocket)
-Focus loses while video recording (with camera movements)
-2 batteries takes not so long(you must carry at least another 2 batteries)


I prefer this camera for another alternatices from Nikon, Fujifilm, Kodak and Sony. Some other are cheaper than this model but I always prefer canon.

This one replaces the SX120 IS. It sees a resolution increase to 12MP, a longer 12x zoom range starting at 28mm, gains SDXC support and offers HD movie recording and additional scene modes including a Miniature mode. Now you can faking miniatures the Canon way.

The rest of the features remain the same including a 3.0" LCD, P/A/S/M shooting, image stabilization and AA battery power.

With Easy Mode, the camera becomes the perfect point-and-shoot, with most buttons disabled and icons removed from the screen to make it easier to compose and capture the best possible shot, without worrying about settings.



Smart Auto with Scene Detection Technology identifies up to 28 different shooting conditions, automatically adjusting the settings to produce the best possible result, which is fantastic.
Smart Flash Exposure controls flash levels according to shooting conditions, providing the right amount of flash to ensure perfectly exposed shots in all situations, from dimly lit rooms to bright sunlight.
You can also use Slow Sync Flash (that tells your camera to shoot with both a longer shutter speed as well as firing the flash).


Also you have full manual control allowing to individually control shutter speed and aperture to shoot with their chosen settings and create my own effects.


As well as providing help in capturing great images as seen through the lens, the PowerShot SX130 IS also features a range of creative modes to add a new dimension to photos without requiring additional post-production. Miniature Effect is available in both movie and still image capture, mimicking the effects of a tilt-shift lens to give subjects a model-like profile. Fish-eye Effect replicates the distortion of a fish-eye lens, adding a new angle to portrait and landscape shots. Super Vivid boosts colour saturation, while Poster Effect creates a more retro feel to images, allowing users to make their photos really stand out from the crowd.

You can join the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, an online facility for sharing photos and video. Up to 2GB of personal storage capacity is available, creating enough room for hundreds of high-quality images. Mobile browsing is also supported, making it easy for friends and family to view photos on the move.

This is one of the best buys I've ever had the pleasure of bidding on and paying for. This camera is a perfect size, takes excellent photos, and the pictures downloaded very quickly into my pc's picture file. I took pictures this a.m. in thick fog and they came out so good, I posted one of them on Facebook (no one believes the amount of fog we get here - now they know)! So far, I haven't had to change the 2 AA batteries, but I'll always carry an extra set or two with the camera. My previous camera was a smaller version of this one with a built-in battery. Well, I had lost the extra battery I had, so when it started blinking 'low battery' I had to stop taking pics and recharge the only one I had. The replacement built-in batteries are expensive, compared to plain old AA ones. I am so happy I purchased this camera.

If I had known Canon does not offer a rechargeable battery for this camera, I would have never bought it. A camera this size goes through batteries very quickly. Rechargeable AA's are an option, but not a great one. A rechargeable power cell would be ideal. The camera itself is very good, fast shutter and nice picture quality. But, come on Canon, get serious about the environment and unnecessary consumption of batteries... include rechargeable power cells for these electronics- or at least offer them.
