Before McDreamy

This is a fun loving tale about a nerd who wants to be popular and buys his way to popularity. Patrick Dempsey stars in this high school romantic comedy as a nerd during his senior year in high school who wants to be part of the cool clique and buys his was with the help of the captain of the varsity cheerleaders. It is a great story about the game of life in high school. Amanda Peterson plays the captain of the cheerleaders Cindy Mancini who is the one that Ronald (Donald) Miller is truthfully in love with. This movie is a lot of fun and I feel a must see.

Amanda decides to take a risk, and she uses her mother's leather dress to wear at a senior high school party. Her intention was to impress her friends, but she does not realize it will be ruined by a schoolmate. He spills cranberry juice on the dress, and she tries to get another replacement at a local mall. She does not know that another student is watching from across the vicinity, while he is about to purchase a telescope. His name is Ronny, and he is a school "nerd". He always had an infatuation with being popular, and he had wanted to be friends with the popular crowd in school. So Ronny decides to put his one-thousand dollars by attempting to buy popularity, as he proposed an agreement with Amanda. He decides to help her buy another dress, if she pretends that both are dating in school. Amanda agrees to this fabrication relationship during the school year, but Ronny does not realize he will learn a valuable lesson. "MoNeY CaN'T bUy Me LoVe!" True love that is...

Can't Buy Me Love

Love the movie and glad I found it on eBay. The movie was filmed in my high school in Tucson, Arizona It actually snowed on one of those days they filmed and I watched Patrick Dempsey have a snowball fight with a group of our high school girls. Of course, that was before he was famous. The DVD arrived 5 days after I ordered it. Thanks eBay. It is a sweet, entertaining movie. I remember the original name of the movie was "Boy Rents Girl" but the title was changed when it was released. Worth watching.

Love this classic teen romance

Created: 01/03/08
This movie, the original, is much better than the remake done recently. I loved it when I was a teenager myself, and now that "Mc Dreamy" is back on TV, I'm sure many girls will want to see this movie to check out Patrick Dempsey in his younger years.
You can't help but feel sorry for the poor guy in this movie, as a high-school outcast with a crush on the most popular girl in school. It's a sort of rags to riches tale of romance, rather than money. If you liked the original Dirty Dancing or Never Been Kissed with Drew Barrymore, you'll like this too!
