The Canterville Ghost (DVD)

This movie is a must see or buy for the movie lover and love of old england. Patrick stewart is an excellent actor in this movie and neve campbell does an outstanding supporting role and lead. this was a wonderful book to read and the movie follows along with the book to a tee. I highly suggest this movie to families and movie buffs alike. This was hard to find on dvd though so make sure you look hard to find what you need. The canterville ghost would be great if they did a part 2 to follow up with the family and the remainder of the story. This was a bit of a downfall towards the end of the movie. Otherwise this is the top rating of excellent.!!!

The Canterville Ghost is about a girl and her family moving to a haunted house. It is not a horror movie, it is more about understanding and acceptance. The girl is first frightened by the ghost, then angry with him and finally wants to help him find release. The ghost is from Shakesperes time and is played beautifuly by Patrict Stewart. The movie was made for TV so has some plank frames but they don't distract from the over all movie. I had seen the TV release and was looking forward to the DVD. I was not disappointed. The video and sound are great.

I love this movie, especially this version with Patrick Stewart as the Ghost. I have seen other versions, but he makes it more "romantic" and not as corney as the others. Definately worth adding to your collection. A nice movie for the whole family... not a scary ghost story.

Patrick Stewart has done a lot of Shakespeare in theatres and this was a really good use of his experience as the Canterville Ghost. I really liked the movie. I hadn't seen the DVD any where. I could find the original movie, but not this one and knew I had to have it.

"The Canterville Ghost" was a delightful surprise. I watched it on Netflix and immediately looked for it on the internet, and was glad to find it on eBay. I look forward to sharing it with friends. Excellent acting, an unusual story line, and a perfect ending.
