This is certainly one of the funniest sitcoms in all of television history. After looking for so long, I'm glad that somebody finally started a DVD set for this series. After being first introduced to it in syndication by my grandmother who saw it when it was new, I was addicted to it almost immediately. The way all the characters, main and supporting, interacted in each episode set the standard for television comedy, making most other shows before, during, and after seem second-rate...and the remaining few that could compare cannot top it. Every episode is a riotous laugh; even if one can predict the plot, no one can predict the way the characters react to the plot points. Nat Hiken, the creator of this and the Phil Silvers Show before it, was a comedic genius who unfortunately went too soon (according to interviews on the last disc, Joe Ross contributed indirectly to his untimely demise). The interview with Charlotte Rae and Hank Garrett really helps to paint a picture behind the scenes of production. The only down part of the set was that it was not fitted with subtitling, which is one feature of DVDs that help to make them relevant compared to video tapes (my opinion). However, I quickly overlooked that: The sound is excellent, the speech deliveries are clear, and the insanity is above Bellvue! The only thing I cannot understand is why it took so long for this series to be marketed on disc. I only hope that the marketing of the second season will not take nearly so long!

I bought this for my father for his birthday. This is just a really great show. The early 60s, black and white, good, wholesome comedy. They just don't make shows like this anymore. It is awesome, fun for the whole family.
