CardScan - great time saver
Created: 03/12/09
This is a great time saver. It's just about plug and play - the SW CD was easy to install and the vendor's customer support was most helpful and provided me with a free SW upgrade.
Within in minutes I was scanning in all my collected business card -- 400+. The software is clever enough to distinguish between an individual's name and their company name, etc. And since an enlarged image of the card shows on the verification screen, you can make adjustments or deal with handwritten notes that may appear on the screen.
Within an hour or two I scanned in all 400+ card and linked these into my address book.
There's also an on-line feature so that you can have web access to your card list if you're on the road.

Excelent choice for a Card Scanner

As a manager for three companies outside my country, I was carrying around tons of cards. The 700c model is not the most up-to-date one, but provides an excellent solution to both scan locally and use remotely (via Web) your valuable information.
I scanned ca. 160 cards in a little over one hour (my first hour of use). So it is really easy and fast. The scanner is just normal, but the software is what makes the difference.
Be careful, because the CD attached is wrong. You need to download the right drivers from the website.

CardScan 700c

I had this unit up and running within minutes of receiving it. The instructions for loading the software and operation of the scanner were easy to follow. After about 2 hours I had about 300 cards scanned into the software and synced with my contact management software. While I wouldn't pay $249+ retail for this or any other unit, the money paid for this nearly new unit on ebay was well worth the investment!

CardScan so far is working nicely and is reliable! I was able to set it up easily and was scanning business cards in minutes. This seems to be the best bang for ones buck as far as business card readers go.

Card Scan 500

For those on a tight budget, this monochrome scanner and software does the job. While slower, than later units, it will work. Since it requires a power source, it is more cumbersome than later units, which also makes this unit less desirable. It would be interesting to see how much time you save if you spent the extra money, and got the newer units. All in All, all CardScan units are excellent. Really more depends on your budget.
