Movie synopsis

IN THEATERS JUNE 9, 2006 John Lassater (TOY STORY, A BUG'S LIFE) brings his Pixar touch to a story of a charming but egomaniacal race car (the voice of Owen Wilson) who finds himself stranded in a small town, where he gets back in touch with his values., Talking cars rediscover the quirky originality of middle America in this inventive animated film from the folks at Pixar (TOY STORY, FINDING NEMO). Owen Wilson does the voice of arrogant rookie racecar Lightning McQueen, who winds up stranded in the small desert town of Radiator Springs on his way west to a big showdown. Sentenced to community service after literally tearing up the road in a high-speed chase, at first all Lightning can think of is getting back to the world of corporate sponsorship and merchandising tie-ins he loves so well. Eventually, however, the eccentric residents of Radiator Springs begin to grow on him, especially the attractive lady Porsche lawyer (Bonnie Hunt) and a rusty old tow-truck (Larry the Cable Guy). There's also a hippie Volkswagen (George Carlin), a low-riding T-bird (Cheech Martin) and Paul Newman as the gruff, curmudgeonly Doc Hudson, the town judge who harbors his own checkered-flag past. The story may not be new, but Pixar's precision-engineered animation brilliantly illuminates the town and its surrounding cactus-studded vistas down to the minutest detail, and director/writer John Lasseter keeps the film's satiric wit and generous heart in perfect alignment. Adults in the audience should appreciate the film's celebration of old-school American eccentricity, and the kids will dig all the thunderous grit and high-octane wheel burning. Randy Newman composed the score; James Taylor sings one of the songs.

A WONDERFUL MOVIE FOR ALL AGES!!

Created: 22/11/06
Cars is one of the best animated movies that has been produced in the past several years!! It is a clean, wholesome movie that is acceptable for people of any age to enjoy. The storyline is wonderful and teaches two important lessons.

For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of seeing this movie here is a short synopsis: Hotshot rookie race car Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is living life in the fast lane until he hits a detour on his way to the most important race of his life. Stranded in Radiator Springs, a forgotten town on old Route 66, he meets Sally (Bonnie Hunt), Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), Doc Hudson (Paul Newman) and a variety of quirky characters who help him discover that there’s more to life than trophies and fame.

Here are the lessons I think the storyline teaches:

Lesson #1 is that life is way too fast paced. Because people are always in such a hurry, small towns vanish or get lost in the shuffle as, in the name of progress, Interstates and Highways ware paved to help save time in getting from one place to another. Here is a question to ponder: Is it really necessary to take the fastest route so you can go 70 mph to get to where you are going? If you go too fast you just might miss something interesting or wonderful. Why not slow down and enjoy the scenery? You only get one chance to live so why not take life slow and easy and enjoy the view! :o)

Lesson #2 shows us not to be so self-centered and selfish. When you stop thinking about yourself and help someone else you get a sense of accomplishment that makes you feel good. Treat others the way you would like them to treat you. It’s really not so hard to do. Little things mean a lot to people. Next time you are heading into a store take time to open the door for someone else and let them enter the building first. Or if you are waiting in line at a stoplight and see someone needing to turn from a side street, let them out in front of you. They will be grateful and you will feel good that you did it. Anything you can think of to show kindness to someone else will make their day go better and will make you feel wonderful! :o)

In all I give this movie a two-thumbs up, a rating of a perfect 10 and I highly recommend it to everyone!!

Cars (2006,DVD) Children Disney Pixar movie

Created: 01/12/06
This is the greatest children's movie ever. I purchased this movie for my two years old boy. He just loved it! I was pleased to watch him watching the movie over and over again. It's just simply perfect for any children, no matter their gender! It's cute, clean, fun. Even my brother (who is 30 years old) asked me to borrow the movie so he could watch it. After he saw it he called and told me: "Now I understand why Joshua watches it so much! It's cool and cute!"
From my point of view is one of the best movies Disney has created so far. Pixar animation also played a good role to make this movie so perfect and clean. Any person can enjoy it since its images are beautiful and catchy...the soundtracks are also great, I just love them. I just wanted to let you know it's a great inspirational story for people of all ages.
The lessons behind the story:
Stop living your live in the fast lane and take your time to just take a walk, maybe you are missing something in your life that would only be seen if you just hit a detour. You will find yourself amazed as Lightning Mcqueen (Owen Wilson) (the rookie race car) did. Radiator Springs, a forgotten town, is just a metaphor of a more relaxed and pleasant place, where you can live in a slow motion and live a little more. When you find a place where you can relax and enjoy live you have time to make friends and enjoy them. If you always live in the fast lane you will never find the time to make good friends. Lightning Mcqueen discovers there's more to life than fame and empty trophies. People should be aware of this truth; we should slow down a bit and enjoy a detour as much as possible. There is no need to go 60-70 mph if we can get to same place at a lower speed while enjoying life. If we live our lives too fast we might end up missing the greatness of living: beauty of nature and people that just get passed by our daily fast paced live.
Lightning Mcqueen is a selfish car, who wants to be the next piston cup winner at all cost. By hitting the detour trying to find Mack (his truck) he discovers Radiator Springs and there starts his new challenge. He needs to learn the lesson and people from that town becomes the instruments to help him change. From self-centered and selfish he transforms slowly in a helpful and friendly car that is willing to give whatever is necessary to fulfill everybody's dream. He changes the town and makes Sally's dream come true: She wanted to be able to enjoy the town the way it was in its hay days.
He receives much more from them since they became his true companion at the end of the story.
I won't say anything else since its well worth to watch it and enjoy it!
Congratulations to Disney and Pixar, great job, guys!

I really hope this movie teaches most people to take a slow walk and stop racing, there's so much more in life than going in a fast lane.
Two-thumbs up for this movie!
From 1 to 10 I give a 20...I highly recommend it to everyone!!

A Fun FAMILY Movie, Young and Old!!!

Created: 20/11/06
Cars is a A Fun FAMILY Movie for Young and Old!!!

Cars is a great movie, with a ton of fun and excitement. It offers up a great story, with awesome graphics, and even better voice overs. Owen Wilson is awesome as Lightning McQueen.

This movie is fun, funny, and teaches everyone a thing or two about competition and respect.

Cars hits the nail on the head with it's cast of loveable characters, catchy music, and dynamite animation.

The only problem I have with Cars... well the only two problems I have with Cars are that it is an animated Kids movie that is over 2 hours long... ouch... can anyone say bathroom breaks, the other is the Catch Phrase "Ka-chow". Other than that Cars is great.

Cars mixes young humor with grown-up humor and this makes it the perfect family movie. The adults in the room might not find the young humor that great, but the children in the room won't understand the Adult humor. This makes Cars SAFE and FUN for the entire family.

The DVD also features two animated shorts - Mater and the Ghostlight and One Man Band. Mater and the Ghostlight is a funny animated short directed towards children. The real stand-out on this DVD is One Man Band. Although only 4 minutes long, One Man Band serves up a delightful mix of action, comedy, drama, and music that will have everybody screaming for more!!!

Final Verdict:

5/5

Rent or Buy: This movie is a definite Buy if you have children or grandchildren. If you don't have either of those, as simple rental will satisfy your Cars needs.

Cars -- Great for children of all ages!

Created: 14/02/07
Pixar has really outdone themselves with this one! Cars is one of the best children's movies I've seen in a long time!

The story has a good moral, plenty of humor and even romance. Children will sit mesmerized by Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater. There is enough humor aimed at the older audience to keep their interest while not confusing the younger ones.

The animation is just amazing. The personification of cars gives the movie a cute quality that wouldn't have been there if the characters were human. At the end of the movie, you really feel like you've connected to the Lightning, Mater, Sally and the whole gang. It left me wanting to visit Radiator Springs.

I highly recommend this movie to children of all ages.

The title says it all!

Created: 07/09/08
I put off buying this movie since it was a cartoon. Boy, was I wrong! My 2yr old grandson has 2 of the cars that he was given at Christmas 2007. When attending a car show, we say an old truck made up to look just like "Mater". I decided to buy the movie when my daughter said she had seen it and thought her son would like it.

I have not had a chance to even get it out of the DVD player since it arrived in the mail! My grandson loves it and one day watched it 6 times! When I watched it for the first time, I was amazed. It is just as much for adults as it is for children. Disney has done it again with it's little puns and character insinuations. It is a must see for anyone of any age. If you have not seen it, do so soon! You'll most likely end up buying one for yourself.
