Product Information
Find yourself back in the 1800s, where rumor has it that a vampire uprising is happening deep within the twisted heart of Wallachia, Transylvania. In Castlevania, players can be one of two brave hunters who travel to Transylvania to investigate. Players can select from either the dashing and daring Reinhardt Schneider who carries a whip and short sword for close attacks, or the impetuous Carrie Fernandez who fires magical projectiles and wields a pair of blade rings for hand-to-hand combat. There are items to collect during the course of your adventure which may prolong the life of your character long enough to survive. These items include livestock to restore health, sacks of gold, weapon power-ups, healing kits, and moon and sun cards which can turn days into nights or vice versa. Both characters end up taking different paths and dealing with different storylines, but in the end they have to face down the same wretched demons including death itself.

The Castlevania series has been one of the most successful console based games available. Part of the fascination comes from our overall fascination of vampires in general, but most comes from the high quality of the games themselves. Castlevania for N64 was a quantum leap from the fun, two dimensional versions on earlier consoles. Gloomy settings and stirring music accentuate the experience. Classified as a "second person shooter," the Castlevania game requires lots of strategy, too, so much so that getting a manual or strategy guide helps greatly.

First Castlevania to have a free roaming 3D environment

Everyone loves Castlevania games, and putting a 3D Castlevania game on the marker was a great idea! Finally a castle you can run around in at your own free will! While the overall gameplay was a bit rough, the story line and graphics are great for a 64bit system! Having battles in a free roaming environment was a great addition to the series, for it brings a greater depth of gameplay and realism. This game has all the classic Castlevania elements of whip crushing action and sub-weapon destruction. It set the foundation for future Castlevania games to follow...Lament and COD for the Playstation! Great addition to any gamers collection and alot of FUN!

    Castlevainia for N64

    Created: 09/11/06
This is a great role playing game. Great characters, costumes, cut scenes, and evil minions! The story of the game, you are the last in a long line of male vampire slayers, or for the women you are an orphaned girl with magical powers. Dracula has risen again to rule Transelvania. You must defeat him and save the country.
Classic N64 graphics. For anyone who loves the nostalgia of the N64 this is one of the games you want to play. Killing vampires and demons what could be more fun.

A good game, more because it is a Castlevania than for any other reason.

Konami's experience that tried to adapt to the times of games in three dimensions. Fortunately after that the franchise returns to its origins in the good way sidescrolling.

First game of the franchise in 3D, delivers what it promises. Tension and fun in an sinister scenario. With a wide and challenging map full of labyrinths and dead ends that ensures fun, although the controls are stiff and half viewing angle bother sometimes but this is not enough to the game that makes use of other weapons to arrest the player.
