Catch Me If You Can (DVD, 2003, 2-Disc Set, Widescreen)

Steven Spielberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks|Theatrical release: 2002 | Rating: PG-13 (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Frank W. Abagnale's autobiography CATCH ME IF YOU CAN follows the cat-and-mouse chase of Abagnale (Leonardo DiCaprio) and FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks) as Abagnale travels the world passing forged checks and assuming false identities. Covering the time period from 1963-69, the film leaps from the suburbs of New York to Georgia, Louisiana, Miami, France and the skies of Pan American airlines with Abagnale, who passes himself off as a pilot, doctor, lawyer and socialite, while constantly frustrating Hanratty's attempts to nab the increasingly cunning forger.CATCH ME IF YOU CAN finds Spielberg drawing on the father-son relationship that develops between Abagnale and Hanratty, filling a void left in the lives of each man: Abagnale's strained relationship with his tax-cheat father (Christopher Walken) and Hanratty's never-seen family left behind in the wake of a divorce. As Hanratty pursues Abagnale, their mutual admiration and respect grows, and finally they even come to rely on each other.

"Catch Me If You Can" starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. The DVD is a two-disc set, which features the film in your choice of widescreen or Standard format(why would you want standard?) along with plenty of behind the scenes goodies and documentaries to supplement the film.

I did not see the film when it was released in the theater. I thought about it, but I couldn't overcome my displeasure of Leo DiCaprio and the whole "Titanic" hype. However, now that I have seen it, I regret my hesitance, because it really is a fine film.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, "Catch Me If You Can" is based on the true story of a teenager, who, upon learning of his parents divorce, runs away from home and develops a knack for forging checks and passing himself off as a doctor, a lawyer, and anything else required to maintain his wild lifestyle. The film takes place in the 60's and is full of color and fun. Leo DiCaprio does such a fine job that I forgot all about "Titanic". And Tom Hanks, who plays a government agent out to catch Leo, delivers his best performance since "Saving Private Ryan." The movie is a lot of fun to watch, and, after making such heavy handed films as "Artificial Intelligence" and "Private Ryan", it is good to know that Steven Spielberg can still create a movie as delightful as the ones he made in his prime, such as "Jaws" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

I didn't see this movie in the theater but I did see it both on DVD and on tv, Each time I enjoy it more.

I really don't care too much for Leonardo but in this movie he is GREAT as Frank Abagnale Jr.

This movie is based upon a true story about a man who was always a fake.

The plot of the movie: A true story about Frank Abagnale Jr. who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor.

This movie also has some excellent actors in it. Such as Tom Hanks who plays Carl Hanratty, Christopher Walken who plays Frank Abagnale, Sr, and Martin Sheen who plays Roger Strong.

This is one movie that should be seen. You won't regret it.

Catch Me IF You Can I met Frank W Abegnale

Created: 03/04/10
I waited for this movie to be made for about twenty years. I met Frank W Abegnale after one of his seminars Back then; and I even have his autograph on one of my old checks. (He has a photo graphic memory..I said forget the account number and he laughed.) Originally he though the movie would be made with Dustin Hoffman playing Him, and He would have played the FBI agent. Well needless to say it never went off that way..but the stars that are in the film and the director could not have been a better match. Im glad they finally did the movie..and there is even more to his life than it showed..but I think they did an awesome job of depicting his True life escapades at deception and posing as different professional people all before he was even old enough to drink.
anyway see the movie and watch the second dvd that explains and shows the real Frank W Abegnale..youll be glad you did.

Catch Me If You Can Reveiw

Amazingly Fun Movie. Watch It.

A creative movie which documents rather factually the life of one Frank Abignale, a con man on top of his game. Set in teh back-drop of a generation past, this movie's sets, wardrobe, and writing is dead on. And with Christopher Walken, Tom Hanks, and of course Leonardo Dicaprio on the cast, where can you go wrong?

Watch it, you'll love it.

Viewpoint on Catch Me If You Can (2003-DVD)

Created: 01/01/08
The main reason I like this DVD is that it is Closed Caption. We have a parental guardian on our Television that blocks all "cursing" in the movie.
We had seen this particular movie at the cinema when it first came out, but the movie has so much detail I do wanted to be able to watch it in my home and enjoy the movie and "back it up" if necessary to really understand it all.

The "real" guy was amazing in this movie, refering to the real man that the movie was about. It was so surprising that one man could accomplish such a feat and more amazing that he could "fool" so many people with his actions.

Movie was well written and really made one think! That's a good thing.

True life stories are good and this one simply amazed me.
I'd recommend this movie as one to watch with your family - use it as an opportunity to emphasize how important the truth really is in one's life.
Hope this helps you to consider this movie.
