Chappelle's Show - The Lost Episodes: Uncensored (DVD, 2006)

I actually never received this product from the seller. I have, however, watched "The Lost Episodes" on TV and can review accordingly.
In order for this review to be helpful, one should keep in mind that I am a huge Dave Chappelle and Chappelle's Show fan. I thought Chappelle's Show Season One was great and Season Two was even better; some of the funniest sketch comedy ever.
I would say that I was mildly let down by The Lost Episodes. I would say that half of this let down comes from the high esteem that I hold Season Two and the other of the let down is the quality of The Lost Episodes. So, The Lost Episodes, while funny, were a different comedy. I think the humor changed from cultural differences to his new-found wealth. In conclusion, I would say it was funny but does not really compare to Seasons One and Two.

Dave Chappelle is back! … Sort of. Three completed episodes from the long-lost third season of Chappelle’s Show are finally available for mass consumption. With the success of the first two seasons, Dave finally gets to meet the President of Show Business, spends some time in the limelight on MTV's Cribs, and gives his best impersonations of P. Diddy, ‘Lil Jon and Gary Coleman. Combine that with some great musical guests and you've got proof that Dave Chappelle is now and forever will be one of the funniest, most boundary-pushing comedians ever to grace television.

After having seen the first two seasons of Chappelle's Show, I was-to say the least-psyched to see what he would come up for season 3. And then the unthinkable-at least to everyone except Chappelle himself-happened: Dave left the show, after only having taped enough sketches for a few episodes. Now, more than a year after his departure, we are left with a mere sample of what could've been. Although I laughed at almost everything on the DVD-including the deleted scenes, commentary and all-I can see why he felt it wasn't going the right direction. That said, it's still very funny material. It just lacks the one-two punch of the first two seasons. R.I.P. Tyrone Biggums and "I'm Rick James, Bitch!".

Sadly this DVD isn't that good. I mean Dave is in it but it is definitely not like the 1st or 2nd season. Basically it comes down to this. If you were a fan of the show. Get it to complete your Chappelle collection. If you are hoping that it will be just as funny. You might be disappointed. I know I really didn't care for it that much.

Dave Chappelle show is one of the greatest comedy series ever. Too bad is was so short, and Dave got crazy, ran off to Africa.
