Your Money Won't Go Up In Smoke With This Purchase!

I can't believe I've watched this movie from time to time for 30 years now and it's STILL timelessly funny. The 1970's stand-up duo who sold thousands of comedy albums hit paydirt with their first movie, Up In Smoke. Followed by five sequels, this first film is considered by most to be their absolute best. And you didn't have or had to be in the "pot-culture lifestyle" to get the jokes either. A true comedy classic. Paramount released it first in 2000 with a couple of extras but now in 2007, a new Special Collector's Edition has toked it's way to stores. But is it worth a repurchase or should you save your stash?
At first glance this 2007 version's cover from the original 2000 issue doesn't look worth it, but trust me it's a vast improvement. First, the new menus are nice with new smokey animations, a strange-at-first CGI-like animated music video for the album version of Earache My Eye complete with the full original monologue, a quick video version of the movie where all you see is each time every actor says "Man" in it (trust me, it's funny), a couple of 70's radio spots, and be it slightly too short, an 11 minute retrospective on the movie with Cheech, Chong, and director Lou Adler. Even the movie's picture itself has been greatly improved, with an amazingly colorful picture free from any blemishes whatsoever. The 5.1 mix, commentary, and deleted scenes are ported over from the 2000 release, so this is one double-dip you can toss the original for.
Highly recommended for your stoner library, even just for the comedy-in-general one.

This is great movie Cheech & Chong movie is most funniest cigaweed. classic the best of the C&C movies ever! These guys had been doing this kind of act for many years on stage, and so when it came to putting into a film, it was very easy, because they had been doing these gags for years anyway.
It was hilarious I laughs entire movie beginning to end. In top of thatbonus features! There are a few deleted scenes that didn't make it into the movie, and its a shame they didn't put it, because some are funny as hell! In Cheech Marions commentary he said that the scenes where not cut because they weren't good, they where cut just to shorten the film! and one great scene is one you'd recognize from "Still Smokin" where Cheech is being a smart-ass to an old man (another charactor of chong) and doing the "I could be your daddy cause i used to Fcuking buffalo" gag

I think this movie "Up in Smoke" is probably Cheech and Chong's best movie. It had me laughing all the way through it. I just got it the other day and I can't wait to see the movie again for a good laugh

One of the best comedies of the 1970's. These 1978 "pot heads" do one sight gag after another in this really, and I mean really low budget film. One scene is worth the movie, the one where the "weed van" is smoking, and an actress (don't recall her name) make sounds, while the van is rocking, and not to the music, if you know what I mean.
Up there with Blazing Saddles, and History of the World, Part 1.
Watch this one first, the others are OK in places, but with bigger budgets, and type casting only Stacey Ketch (Mike Hammer) standing out in most of the later movies.

This movie is hilarious. From start to finish, Cheech and Chong are two dimwit stoners that embark on a wild adventure. All the way, they are pursued by Stacey Keach and his band of inept police officers. Check out the battle of the bands at the end of the movie, hilarious. If you are a Cheech and Chong fan, then this movie is for you.
