Movie synopsis

Facing imminent death while laying eggs at Tweedy's English farm, a group of chickens, led by the determined Ginger (Julia Sawahla, BBC-TV's ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS), plan to escape their prisonlike coop. The situation goes from bad to worse when the sinister Mrs. Tweedy (Miranda Richardson) decides to stop selling eggs and use the hens as the main ingredient in chicken pot pies. However, some hope literally falls from the sky in the form of Rocky (Mel Gibson), an American rooster who promises to teach the chickens how to fly. As the hens begin their struggle to get airborne, the monstrous pie-making machine arrives, giving the chickens precious little time to make their great escape. Aardman Studios' first full-length feature film is a stunning showcase of stop-motion animation. Utilizing the unique Plasticine designs of the acclaimed WALLACE & GROMIT and CREATURE COMFORT shorts, CHICKEN RUN features vibrant visuals and colorful characters that are immediately endearing. (The naive and constantly knitting Babs, voiced by Jane Horrocks, is particularly hilarious.) With its clever writing, witty film references, and pitch-perfect combination of comedy, drama, and romance, CHICKEN RUN is one of those rare movies that genuinely appeals to viewers of every age.

Even chickens can aspire to a better life!

Created: 09/03/08
"Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way..." This film so poignantly illustrates Pink Floyd's adage. And who says that poultry can't have their little niche in realm of dry wit? Surreal to an almost ridiculous degree, but the makers of this beautiful story keep it hemmed in just right before going overboard. Ginger pays homage to Steve Mcqueen's character in "The Great Escape," when time after time in solitary, she wiles her moments
away bouncing a ball. Mel Gibson's Rocky is so well developed, I wonder if he missed his calling as a veterinarian. But fowler proved himself once again by unwittingly providing the chickens' last and best hope of escaping the Tweedy's camp, er farm that is. I took my daughter to see this movie when it first came out. Now my six year son watches it with such relish. I am a grown man, but I really have a soft spot for films such as this one. I have yet to grow tired of it. I hope you can enjoy it half as much. So many movies these days are such a waste of time to watch. It's nice to see one that doesn't do that. The added bonus is having watched it time and again with my children.

Great, Funny family Comedy!

Chicken Run is a 'claymation' adventure-comedy from the creator of Wallace and Gromit, escape drama with a touch of passion set on a sinister Yorkshire chicken farm in 1950's England. The film follows the turbulent romance between two farmyard chickens, Rocky and Ginger, who yearn for freedom and plan a daring 'prisoner of war' style escape.

Chicken Run

I thought that I would get this for my nephew, he's about to turn 2 at the end of this month. I recently got him Wallace & Gromit's Adventures and he can't stop talking about him (them?). Well, as much as a pre-2yr. old can I guess. So seeing what a "grand" effect that "W & G" had on him, I thought to myself, why not "Chicken Run" it's of the same ilk. So I went on good ol ebay and bought it!
The next thing I knew we, the entire family consisting of my brother, his wife and Rainor (the little guy) sat down to watch it.
Do you think it's possible to wear out a DVD? If it is, I think they're getting close to it...
Excellent movie for "ALL" ages. A must see. Full of action, adventure (misadventure too!) and of course... Chickens!

Do you think it's possible to wear out a DVD? If it is, I think they're getting close to it. It plays over and over all day. Great movie for all, full of action, adventure and of course "Chickens".
