Planning to customize your vehicle.

This book will help to chop a top on just about any vehicle. I wanted to take my sheet metal experience to another level. I bought this book so I can chop the top of an older pick-up truck that I own. I have never done this type of sheet metal work before now. It seems the information in this edition should help me along quite nicely. I would recommend this book to anybody who wants to do top customizing on their car or truck. The language used is simple and concise and to the point. In other words its easy to understand.

Really a good book if you are interested in doing your first chopped top or doing a vehicle that is on the trickier side. pictures are old fuzzy and really difficult to make out. I would not be comfortable telling someone that does not do sheetmetal fabrication or has not to simply pick up this book and get to cutting but it is full of a lot of great information that cannot always be found.
The pictures are the books biggest downfall use the information to help spark your imagination and to help give you an idea on the best places to make your cuts and where to remove material, line up panels and where you will need to make patch panels.

Tex Smith's How to Chop Tops

I purchased this book for informatin on customizing my 1954 chevy. It was supposed to have "detailed" information about this topic but did not follow through. One page is listed about my vehicle but was everything but informative. Just about every section other than the one I needed was very detailed with numerous pictures and instructions. I would not recommend this book to anyone wanting to chop a 1954 chevy hardtop.
