    Album Notes
Personnel: Chris Isaak (vocals, guitar); Hershel Yatovitz (vocals, guitar, background vocals); Rowland Salley (vocals, bass guitar, background vocals); Kenney Dale Johnson (vocals, drums, background vocals); Jon Joyce , Walt Harrah, Robert Joyce , David Joyce (background vocals); Stevie Nicks (vocals, percussion).Audio Mixer: Mark Needham.Recording information: Cornerstone Studios.Author: Chris Isaak.Illustrator: Chris Isaak.Photographer: Michael Tsay.On this charming holiday album, honey-throated crooner Chris Isaak lends his pipes to a host of Christmas classics, including twangy versions of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Let It Snow," "The Christmas Song," and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" (a duet with Stevie Nicks). Few contemporary vocalists have the chops to pull off both "White Christmas" and "Mele Kalikimaka" without danger of setting Bing Crosby spinning in his grave. Isaak--his voice as smooth as eggnog--manages the task, respectfully reinterpreting both songs as vintage country-pop carols. Isaak's originals sound like lost standards themselves. The heart-melting "Brightest Star" sets moving lyrics about a spiritual epiphany to a buttery ballad that would have been right at home on the 1964 Billboard charts, while the raucous country shuffle "Hey Santa" is almost worthy of the King (Elvis, that is) himself. Isaak's backing band provides tasteful accompaniment, with some shining slide guitar work by Hershel Yatovitz.

    Chris Isaak and Christmas

Chris Isaak says his audience is the middle aged female but I personally know males how like him as well or more and this Christmas album is a great example of why he reaches across those sex barriers like that. He sings the traditional with his own twist. Always right on, always emotional. This is a great addition to anyone's Christmas collection.

What can one say about this fella? He never makes bad songs or albums....I have found that for the most part each of his albums usually never has "repeats" of songs like so many others do....and a Christmas album with his voice....well let's just say ....very nice!!!

    Christmas in July

    Created: 07/06/06
I love this mans voice and did not even know he had a Christmas CD until I saw it on eBay! I bought it right then and there and plan on celebrating Christmas in July...that is the only way to justify listening to Christmas music in the middle of the summer. I could listen to him croon all year long. If a fan it's a must have. Aliciabird
