The Christmas Card

The best movie I have seen for a Christmas love story. I had seen bits and pieces this past christmas on tv. The story caught my eye. Since I could not seem to catch it on, I decided to buy it. I fell in love with it, it is the best! The story is of a soldier in Afganastan, who receives a Christmas card from a woman he has never met. It helps him through the hard time of war and of losing a close friend. While on leave, he goes in search of her. The rest you will have to see. Also has some special features that you do not want to miss! Please check it out. You will not be disappointed.

The notion of soldiers at war-zones made me buy this DVD.
The story-line was good, although somewhat hacked and predictable. Was very good to see Mr Asner again in a role, well suited. Unfortunately, A. Evans was was equally unsuited in her role. Plenty of actresses in their' 30's would have shone here. She did 'not belong' and no genuine feeling for Mr. Newton's character was tangible. The area, itself was noteworthy
and made one wish for a visit there.
I would enjoy, seeing this in a re-made format. The potential was there, but not the follow-thru.

I saw this movie for the first time around Christmas 2011. I recorded it on my DVR and watched it 6 times. I decided to buy the movie to free up space on my DVR and I can just pop it in anytime. This is the best Christmas and love story I have ever seen. Sgt. Cody Cullen gets a card from one of his soldiers home town, Nevada City. After this soldier dies and Sgt. Cullen goes on leave he decides to find the sender of the card. While in Nevada City looking for the sender he drops off dog tags to the soldier who was killed, girlfriend. Cody inadvertantly saves the sender of the card, Faith's, father and is asked to stay over christmas. Faith is of course taken but not engaged to a man who is not for her. Faiths father and uncle does not like Faiths boyfriend and try to get Faith and Cody together. When Faith's boyfriend stops over for Christmas he sees how Faith and Cody get along and gets jealous only to pop the question to Faith a few days before Christmas which Faith has been hoping for for a long time. Secretly she is in love with Cody and he is in love with her. At the end on christmas eve at the church service Faith realizes her love for Cody and gives her boyfriend the ring back. Cody never reveals to Faith the reason he came into town, only Faith's dad knows. The ending is of course happy and it would be great if they ever come out with a part 2. If you want a really good love story that is extra special with a soldier serving in Iraq. This is the movie for you.

Heartwarming Christmas story

Created: 05/01/09
This film is a heartwarming Christmas story that reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. Many will see an idealistic and smoltzy film cast in the stereotypical Hallmark mode. That's too bad for them. What we have here is a story with good Christian values set at Christmastime, as a family pours out its love and Christmas cheer to a lonely Afghanistan veteran giving him renewed life as he finds his own true love. This story depicts everything that is good about America and provides a beacon of hope for all.

Ed Asner, the old pro, gives us a tremendous performance as Luke, the Father, and Alice Evans as Faith portrays the delightfully beutiful girl next door we all wish our son's would bring home.
