Movie synopsis
These touching tales from C.S. Lewis have been brought to the screen on numerous occasions, but these BBC productions from the 1980s are among the most faithful adaptations of the great author's works. THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE follows four siblings--Peter (Richard Dempsey), Susan (Sophie Cook), Edmund (Jonathan R. Scott), and Lucy (Sophie Wilcox)--who discover the enchanted land of Narnia during a game of hide-and-seek. PRINCE CASPIAN & THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER finds the young friends journeying back to Narnia a few years after their first trip, where they aid Prince Caspian (Jean Marc Perret) in defeating his uncle Miraz. This installment also sees Edmund, Lucy, and their cousin Eustace (David Thwaites) heading off on an epic voyage aboard Caspian's ship, the Dawn Treader. Finally, THE SILVER CHAIR centers on Eustace, who is sent to Narnia with a friend, and asked to locate the whereabouts of Caspian's son, Rilian (Richard Henders).

) I thought this was excellent! It had the first 4 books of Narnia on DVD. It included the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair. The American set only contains the first 2 books. They are equally good.

This set actually has 4 of the Narnia series movies in it and they are the BBC productions not the Disney/Pixar movies.
The movies have a distinct british flavor to them and stick very closely to the books. I thoroughly enjoyed them and would recommend them to any Narnia fan.

) I actually thought this would be as good as the first Narnia movie that came out was I ever mistaken. The story line maybe the same but the acting left a lot to be desired. I don't know which ones held more of the true meaning of the books bt C.S. Lewis. but I do know that these weren't very good and they won't go on my favorite movie list.

I bought this set because we have watched the same set from the library and their copies were eventually lost. Some of the reasons we love this series is that it sticks very close to the book, yet is much "tamer" than some of the more recent renditions of "Chronicles". They are suitable for all ages, so if parents are C.S. Lewis fans and want something to watch with their kids, it will make everyone happy! The allusions to scriptural truth are all there. If you are looking for flawless mature acting they probably aren't for you.
