Watch out -- this is the short version !!!

Created: 13/01/09
This series is quite good when we consider it was made back in the 1987 and with only one main narrator and no professional actors (just reenactors).
This version is just 4 hours long, while the whole uncut version of the series on 3 DVDs runs for 6 hours and 25 min.
The whole series consists of 7 episodes :
Vol. 1: The Road To War: Missouri Compromise to First Manssas 1820-1861 -
Vol. 2: Fort Henry To Antietam February 1862-August 1862 -
Vol. 3: Stone Rivers To Vicksburg December 1862-July 1863 -
Vol. 4: Brandy Station, Gettysburg and Chattanooga July 1863-November 1863 - Vol, 5: Red River To Petersburg May 1864-December 1864 -
Vol. 6: Atlanta May 1864-December 1864 -
Vol. 7: Fort Fisher To Lincoln's Assassination January 1865-April 1865

Get this version if you want just the most known battles, but if you want the REAL thing then go after the full version on 3 DVDs or stick with The American Civil War by Ken Burns (along with the book).

This is a excellent dvd !

This is an excellent dvd it has a lot of information and a lot of extras
on it! I enjoy looking at this dvd. This is a must for any civil war buff
who likes reactments and historical references. I really like the extras like the civil war prison camps, and about the pow's you dont hear too much about
these things it give you insight about how it was when a soldier became a
prisoner and what life was like. Seldom you hear or see anything about these.

I recommend this dvd its a very excellent one to have in your collection.
