Sleeping Beauty, in an Adult Format
Created: 03/06/07
Being a fan of Anne Rice's vampire and witch novels, I thought I'd see what her earlier works were like. With her rendition of Sleeping Beauty I learned how she got so good at infusing Interview With A Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, Witching Hour and her other wonderful novels with such erotic tension.
Ms. Rice took a wonderful fairy tale and gave it some unique twists: a kingdom where princes and princesses from surrounding lands are routinely loaned out to The Queen and her court as sex slaves. There aren't many rules for the masters and mistresses--in short, they can't truly harm them but can instead push the limits or their endurance in every conceivable way. Rules for the slaves are many, including getting most anywhere on their hands and knees.
In sumptuous detail, Anne Rice takes us through the enslavement, degradation and training of Beauty after being awakened from her long sleep by her Prince.
It is a bit heavy with sexual content, but I did expect that from an "erotic" novel. If you're very uncomfortable with same-sex or sadism situations, this is NOT a book for you.

I love this book! Anne Rice really did an outstanding job with the descriptions! I could picture the book playing out in my mind as if i was watching a movie. The description of the sexual scenes and the punishments are outstanding!
