Pretty good, a little cheesy at times

Created: 05/09/10
Clash of the Titans is definitely fun when it comes to cool effects and action, but there are a couple cheesy scenes in the film. I was hoping this would be a some what serious film, but they put humor in it to keep it light, which I thought was a little unfortunate. For example, there are two brutes who are a little stupid, and take things very lightly throughout the film; at one scene (minutes after several people in their tight group died) a scorpion falls upon Perseus' sword (falling on top of Perseus), and he arises from the gut of the creature and is grossed out by the inner fluids covering him while the remaining survivors stand and laugh; Over all, though, the film has it's fill of cool effects and good filming, and the acting is pretty good. One thing that bummed me out was throughout the whole movie there is huge build-up about the Kraken coming and destroying the men of earth- but when Mr. Doomsday finally shows up, his big screen time falls to about ten minutes or less, and he never quite makes it to land, as he barely makes it to shore. One cool aspect about the movie, though, was the gods. Their "heaven" is up over earth, and the earth is the floor they walk upon-looks pretty cool. Zeus seems to fit the role of Jesus Christ at times, excluding the moments when he does not care about mankind due to his hearings of their unappreciative behavior. Hades definitely fits Satan's role, and is a little creepy but quiet in the film. Over all, I would give this film about 3 stars out of 5, and would recommend this film to someone who doesn't think about reality too much while watching a film! Good movie to fill a "craving" of special effects and fun filming.

A very good remake of a classic

Created: 24/08/10
Remake of the 1981 film of the same name starring Sam Worthington as Perseus the son of Zeus, half man, half god who is challenged to defeat the Kraken and Hades and save both Heaven and Earth. The movie follows along the same script as the original with very few changes with the exception of a few of the demons Perseus must fight to save Andromeda.

This re-make is in some ways better than the original movie, much better graphics and much better special effects.

The movie also stars: Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, Alexa Davalos, Danny Huston, Pete Postlethwaite, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson as Zeus.

It is well worth watching this remake.

"Pretty Good Remake!"

Created: 29/07/10
Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes star
in this 2010 fantasy remake of the 1981 film. A young
man goes on a quest to defeat an evil God and battles
mythic monsters. This is a pretty good remake, but I
prefer the original. Liam and Ralph are great as usual,
but I don't get Sam's shaved head look because they
didn't have barbers during those times. This dvd has
nice picture and sound, but only deleted scenes and
previews. I wish they included the alternate ending
that's on the blu-ray, but I'd still get this.

An Incredible Mythological Ride

Created: 07/09/10
(**** out of ****) Even though the original COTT is my favorite by far, I must say I prefer this version over the original. The mythology is more accurate and darker, by far than the first. The CGI is absolutely breathtaking and the action sequences will leave you breathless. I enjoy Perseus' training sessions with Draco and Io. Io quickly became one of my favorite characters since she was a strong female role. Seeing Liam Neeson as Zeus was absolutely epic and I can think of no one better to represent Zeus's godhood. Sam Worthington also played a convincing Perseus, probably the best I have seen on film. If you're a fan of mythology I would definitely recommend this version of COTT because I feel it is the most accurate one.
If you don't enjoy mythology, then simply watch it for the cinematography, soundtrack and the action/adventure. It's really an enjoyable ride, and I loved every moment of it !

Clash this.

My big mistake...liking the original so much. The pure suspense of the Medusa battle and its oozy aftermath, the legendary enigmatic cast who portrayed the gods, the star-crossed lovers, and the music. This 2010 remake made me realize how priceless the original is. The remake is shorter, less monsters, less creative with the effects, and a poor deviation from the origin and tragic compassion for Calibos. A replacement of Thetis(who perfectly showed compliance and resentment to Zeus in her role) by Hades. Princess Andromeda is nearly irrelevant in this adaptation and is more or less replaced by a witchy fighter girl. Another ridiculous sidekick added is a Jinn...who looks like a petrified bark man and has a Predator-style bomb built inside of him. I mean, are you kidding me? They feature Apollo, but leave out Artemis and Aphrodite, who are more relevant to the tale of Perseus. They apparently couldn't afford a beautiful Aphrodite in the budget because of overuse of CG giant scorpions and bark man? And how does Perseus have a perfect buzz trimmed marine style haircut while everyone else sports ancient Grecian shag? I know...divine hair trimmers awarded by Zeus. I think Sam Worthington just drove over from the Avatar set and brought his pseudo-trendy look and generic line reciting to the Olympian table. The gods are not insulted by this remake though because they are too busy laughing. RELEASE THE KRACKUPS! One star for a nice looking cover on the package.
