OK, so there's an insert hawking Sarah Brightman calendars, coffee mugs, and sweatshirts. Yes, there's a fair amount of calculation likely in her pop-classical crossover. That doesn't mean the lady can't sing like an angel. Before the embryo-with-pipes known as Charlotte Church came along, Brightman was THE pop-classical singer, whose supernatural pipes allowed her to appeal to both camps with equal verve. CLASSICS proves that, aided by a bevy of orchestras and choirs, Brightman is still big coin in the crossover world. And she's got a lot more traditional operatic chops than little Miss Church to boot. Making her way through old warhorses like "Pie Jesu," "Ave Maria," and "Nessun Dorma," Brightman manages to invest these tracks with new life, and when she takes on the Linda Ronstadt tune "Winter Light" she brings to it an ethereal majesty that leaves no question as to her interpretive abilities on the pop side of the fence.

Editorial Reviews
...Brightman's a stronger song stylist than a singer, but her reedy soprano sounds less shrill and more mature here... - Rating: B-

The classic of the classic

One time ago i really didn´t like the song "ave Maria" maybe because i thought it was some dark song but after hearing Sarah Brightman singing this well knowed song my view changed totally.
This recompilation of the best classic music sung by Sarah brightman give us a totally different perspective of the classical music.
The songs Alhambra, Ave Maria, Winter light and the hit Time to say good bye are some dong included in this cd.
If you don´t like classical music give it a second chance hearing this great cd. I´m sure you´ll love it!!

Classic Opera, Beautiful Voice, Enough Songs

I like this CD. It is good quality, and has enough songs on it to feel like you're getting your money's worth. I think buyers should be aware that what they are buying is all classical opera music, and this CD does not include Sarah Brightman's more pop-style songs. Sarah Brightman is a wonderful musical artist and has a beautiful voice.

This Album is AN ABSOLUTE GEM !!!!!

From charmarjon530 ---- I have followed Sarah Brightman's career since 1993. The pieces in this Album are a fine example of just what this Artist is capable of. She is A CONSUMATE ARTIST. Before she records anything, there is a great deal of research and development. A later Album was/ is now HAREM, then SYMPHONY, A WINTER SYMPHONY,and SYMPHONY: LIVE IN VIENNA. She put in a full TWO YEARS in R & D minimum prior to an Album being introduced. I would recommend THIS PARTICULAR ALBUM as starter album especially for those who are new to her Artistry.

HEAVENLY VOICE

Fabulous songs, good variety of music. Great for long distance car trips. Perfect music to just "Chill to". I wasn't a huge Brightman fan until I attended her concert this year. The concert was very innovative and spectacular. Brightman is a voice that sounds like an angel.

I had heard this CD played in a yoga class and just had to have it for myself! I love the songs and as always, Sarah Brighton's voice is so beautiful. It's a perfect addition to anyone's classical collection.
