Quick to forgive

Great club for the mid-handicap player (I'm a 12). The low center of gravity combined with the Action Lite shaft makes it soooo easy to get the ball airborne and land it soft. The sole is not nearly as wide as other game improvement irons which is nice when your tee shot strays into the rough. It's also easy to open or shut the face a bit for cuts and draws. Mind you, these are not players clubs. Us weekend warriors don't have repeatable enough swings to use players clubs anyway. We'd all be happy with balls that find the green even with less than great contact. That's what these irons deliver. Hit 'em towards the toe and you're on the right side of the green. Hit 'em on the heel and you're on the left side of the green. Hit 'em a little thin and you're on the back of the green. Hit 'em a little fat and you're on the front of the green. Get the picture? You're on the green! Now go 2-putt and take your par!
Buy the 4-D set. The gap wegde is labeled "D" - don't know why. It's a 50* gap wedge. (Who wants a 3 iron anyway? Aren't we all playing hybrids now?) Match up 54* and 58* CG11 wedges and you've got a great set of sticks!
The only negative thing I can say about these irons is that the scoring irons do have a tendency to balloon a bit, especially in strong wind. I've found that moving the ball about an inch back in my stance for 8-PW really helps when the wind is ripping.
I got fit for my set. Turns out I'm 2* flat and 1/2" short with an undersize grip. No problem - I ordered my set made that way at no extra charge. That certainly is better than buying "off the rack" and then spending another $100-$150 to have lie and length adjusted. Take this into account when thinking you've found a deal on ANY off-the-rack club.
I strongly urge all readers to get their clubs fitted properly. Even high handicap and new golfers will benefit. So many swing flaws come from adjusting your swing to compensate for ill fitting irons. Get fit and you'll get faster results from your lessons and range time. It dropped my handicap by 8 strokes in just one season.

Cleveland CG4's

I have played 10 rounds with my new CG4 irons and I am absolutely thrilled with the quality. They are very easy to hit and easy to work as well. I have used cleveland irons previously and I was always pleased. I am a 12 handicap and the CG4's fit my game very well. They have a very nice look at setup, very classical like a players iron but they get the ball into a high ball flight without having an enormous clubhead or offset. I would recommend these irons to mid handicappers looking to start working the ball but still enjoying a forgiving iron.

Great Clubs for the mid to high handicap golfer!

I spent time researching golf irons and have used Callaway X-14 and Adams Idea OS1 golf clubs as well as the Cleveland CG4 irons. The CG4 irons are 6-10 yards longer than the Callaways and 10-15 yards longer than the Adams. I bought these clubs at for 50% of retail and took them out for my first round. Cleveland has done a great job of creating irons that are very forgiving and long even on off center hits. They are very easy to control and have exceptionally good feel for a "Game Improvement" iron. Thumbs up to Cleveland easily the best set of irons that I have ever owned.

Awesome clubs

After demoing the Callaway X18s, Taylormade OSS, and Nike Slingshots I fell in love with the Cleveland CG4s. I likes the x18s second best but appreciated the feel of the CG4s. The Taylormades had a terrible grip IMO and if I bought those I would have to regrip immediately since they felt very very slick. The Nike Slingshots just made a strange whistling sound when you sung them, I am guessing the partially closed cavity back is the culprit and I found myself paying more attention to the whistle rather than my swing tempo. The CG4s just have a buttery smooth feel and are very forgiving, their CMM technology is for real. Also I liked that the CG4s for their size, they are not as oversized as some of the others yet offer as much forgiveness IMO. If you want some game-improvement irons these are a very very nice set of irons.

Cleveland CG4

I previously bought a CG10 60* wedge and 56* sand wedge and loved the way they hit so I figured I couldn't go wrong with a set of CG4 irons. These irons are just as forgiving and still offer plenty control as any of Cleveland's world-class wedges. It did take me a little bit to learn to play this set as I do hit these clubs a bit higher and gained a little distance compared to my last set. Cleveland has really expanded their expertise from wedges to any club today. You cannot go wrong with Cleveland.
After several more rounds with these irons I am beginning to get the hang of them. On the down side the D wedge has a tendency, for me at least, to balloon up sometimes. Also I should note by saying that I don't use the 2-4 irons. Hybrids are the way for me with low irons. Other than that these clubs are great.
