Undying (PC)

This game has nice graphics like many (so what's new?), but the fun facter is not that high. This title is over hyped! I guess people who greatly love shooters would see this title as a better game then it really is. I like shooters but this one was kind of lame. The box text and art leads you to believe this title's story will be the "chit!" The story is in fact poor, the so called family curse is nothing more then a stupid child game which caused the family to died and haunt. Each of the dead family members have their own objectives, but the youngest, Lizabeth, is just a vampire who whats to cause some ruckus. They all keep talking about this King coming back, but even that part is not what you think. There's no super deep, dark and gothic story or anything...really poor creativity by EA I feel. It's kind of like their Madden foot ball....super graphics but poor AI. I'd say save your money for the action PC title Origins of Fang!

A frightening, beautiful, imaginative masterpiece!

This game has it all: Beautiful photo-realistic graphics, a really interesting story and script better than some hollywood films, imaginative level design, and an immersive atmosphere that creates a sense of horror and dread that is really rare in video games. I dare you to play this alone in your house with the lights off! The sound effects contribute to the atmospher probably even more than the superb graphics and level design. I give the gameplay high marks for the moderate, but not impossible to solve mysteries/puzzles that you encounter, and the unique array of spells and weapons, including an evil scythe that lops off your enemies' heads! Lots of creativity and imagination in this game makes it great, but also scares off lots of folks that want a simple game. The only flaw in this game is perhaps the end-boss Which is definitely unique-looking, but still just a big ugly creature so typical of shooter game end-bosses. I thought they could have created a more interesting scenario for the climax of this epic horror story, which is so well crafted up until the end. I give it a 5 out of 5 because you will rarely experience such an intense atmosphere and great story combined with great sounds and visuals in a video game.

Clive Barker's Undying

I bought CBU because I liked the screenshots from www.gamespot.com. I love shooter games with bright colors and weird monsters. Gamespot also said that the audio was super realistic-which it is. The sounds you hear while playing are often the scariest part of the game.
I like the game because of it's realism in graphics and sound, and because the environments are realistic with a touch of the bizzare. You can shoot everything, even if you aren't supposed to (like the gardener who's trying to help you;p ).
I also like that when you walk through a pool of blood you leave red footprints for a while. The creatures in the game are wonderful, but I wish there was more of them.
I played serious sam right before buying this game and fell in love with it. I got used to shooting hordes of monsters, and I was hoping that CBU would be the same. It is not. There are monsters but this is not a game where all you do is walk around mindlessly slaughtering monsters. You have to think a little bit. This is not a downfall of the game, it just depends on what kind of mood you are in.
One last thing- the bodies of the dead monsters stay for a few seconds, but then dissapear- This is the biggest (though a little frivolous) annoyance.

The Best Pre-owned Game On eBay

You can't go wrong with this game. If you like first person shooters (FPS) you want to play this. If you like chilling demonic ghost stories you have to play this. If you like great Clive Barker stories... YOU NEED THIS! I am not even close to done with this game and I love the hidden stuff you can see if you use the Scrye power. That alone makes this a great story game. I don't want to spoil anything for those that have not yet played it but If you use that power in the very beginning of the game near the entrance to the mansion you see what I am talking about. There are many tidbits like that all throughout the game. Some of them are outright creepy.
There is plenty of action and the controls are adjustable to your liking. This may be an old game but it is fun. I payed only $8.62 including shipping for my copy of a used game and feel that I would have paid full price as if the game was new now that I have tried it out. Don't miss your chance to own a Clive Barker Masterpiece.

Horror Master Barker Creates a Chilling Game

I really enjoy Clive Barker's Undying. This PC game runs better on my old machine than my new laptop, which is fine. You need good speakers and a large monitor to fully enjoy this Gothic horror game. Your character is a World War One veteran who returns to Ireland to help a friend. The supernatural is at work in an old manor house. The lone occupant suspects that he is not alone. Are the ghosts of his sinister relatives lurking in the corridors? Barker is Britain's answer to Stephen King, and his foray into the world of video games does not disappoint.
