Publisher's Note
All of the precise and delicate gears and levers in a clock can appear dizzying to the amateur, but this guide, with its wonderfully detailed diagrams, can clear things up. It covers the theory behind clock movement and design, including the particulars of escapements, pendulums, balance wheels, and even the sheet music for popular chimes. The American striking clock, the 400-day clock, and the alarm clock receive special attention. The in-depth information, including explanations of clock repairing terminology and details on the tools, materials, and supplies that are needed for success, will benefit even skilled enthusiasts.

Clock repairing

It states on the title that it is an Illustrated how to Guide. Does it have Illustrations yes it does. Is it a illustrated how to guide it is not. It doesn't tell you how to use the tools. Most of the tools are out dated. There is really nothing on repairing a clock at all in this book. What Little repairing that is mentioned is wrong or incomplete. It has a few Terminology. Again nothing for repairing a clock. This book is not for the beginner and if a beginner used this book he or she would be confused. On the back of the book It says The Secrets of Clock Repair Revealed. WHERE! I never found one Clock Repair. You also will notice on the back of the book that it says Harold C. Kelly was an expert. "Was" that is past tense. I wasted my money. This is really not a book it is has a lot of use less material. The title of this book is very misleading "Clock Repairing as a Hobby" To improve this book would be taking a complete clock. Tearing it down and put it back together. Showing how to use all the tools to take down the clock and put it together. I repeat this book in not for the beginner. This book was not published in 2007 it was published in 1972. Clocks and watches repairing amateurs manuals 1 tile was published 2007. Please check out Bibliograpy: The dates of the books he used. This book is out dated! P.S Check out the Magazines!

Clock Repairing As a Hobby was a christmas present to me, from me. It is a good source for learning the inner workings of clocks. It is very basic information with a tint of intermediate information. Enough to push you to greater learning if you are so inclined. I was. Good book, with good illustrations. Happy with purchase.

I did rating good only because the book is great and I was able to fix my first
Waterbury wall clock
but the book is missing very important part where to oil and grease your clock.

This books title is misleading.

This book is a very, very general description about how different clocks work. It is not about how to repair them. There were very few illustrations and I thought they were poorly labled. That being said, I thought the book was interesting and enjoyed the read. Not what I was expecting thought based on its title. This is my opinion.
