Movie synopsis
Brenda Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) arrives from Atlanta to lead the LAPD's Priority Homicide Division, the special division that deals with explosive high-profile criminal cases. Almost immediately, her mix of brassy toughness and Southern sass begins to rub the mostly male policemen the wrong way. They resent this eccentric, folksy, and occasionally neurotic woman running the show. But when it comes to her CIA-trained interrogation skills, they're forced to admit that she's a pro's pro, a psychological surgeon who gets inside the subjects' minds and draws out their darkest secrets and confessions. And that's why she's the closer. In the hot first series, Johnson and her team tackle the rape and murder of a Congressman's daughter, an escalating gangland war, the assassination of an Iranian businessman, and other delicate and dangerous California crimes. Through all this, Johnson deals with her troubled past, her problematic romances, and even betrayal by members of her own team.

) This show has it all...It is well written with great characters. Kyra Sedgwick plays the perfectly flawed Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson. She is a CIA trained interrogator brought in to run the LAPD Priority Homicide Squad. The pressure of being a woman in an all boys club is the least of her problems. Her boss is a previous love interest. Her whole squad applies for a transfer. She ends up buying one of her victims houses complete with furniture and pets. All of that is just the background story. The real show is watching her craft her web in which she catches the bad guy. She uses crafty word play, manipulation and her quirky southern charm to disarm everyone around her.
I see and hear something new each time I rewatch an episode. This is easily the best show on tv.

This is a great TV series and I don't particularly like commercial TV. Kyra has a great character in this series and she does a great job as a closer for a special police task force. Her team gets the high profile murders and they do a he__ of a job.

) I purchased the Closer after seeing season 2 on tv. It is a great tv show, with a great cast, and mixes drama and comedy. THere's a little bit of CSI and Law & Order in each episode. There's also some quick one liners that are great. Kyra Sedgewick does an excellent job with the lead once you get over the Southern accent. If you are a cop drama fan or a Kyra Sedgewick fan then this is the show for you. The set includes all of the episodes but has very few extra things. I can't wait for the next season to start again.

) The closer first season was a wonderful addition to the TNT network ... Kyra Sedgwick applies her wonderful acting skills to bring this new character to life .... Deput Chief Brenda Lee Johnson will captivate the audience with her tactics and ability to bring a suspect in and get them to talk .... The Closer is wonderful!!!!!

I watched an episode of this show on TV and immediately wanted to see more. I figured I needed to catch up on previous episodes, so I checked out the season 1 dvd's from my local library. I enjoyed it so much, I am getting ready to purchase the box set on eBay. I can't wait for the Season 2 box set! I agree with everyone else, Kyra's southern accent is a little over the top, but you get used to it. This is a great show!
