Cobra Digital DPS1200-HD Slide & Film Scanner

well i received the first one and it was defective. so i had to pay to return it and had to pay extra to insure it and a tracking number. the unit did not scan well and the carriers for the film and slides were cheap and cracked at the hinges so it would not close right. the new one i received the slide and film holder was made different and would close with magnets to hold it closed which was much better. this new unit worked pretty good but i hoped it would have been better as it did not scan some negatives and slides just right but for the most part it did well. i gave it 4 stars because i did not care much for the software but it does the basic functions. i feel the quality of this device could be better made but it is functional and scans what i need to do which is negatives and slides. i have not tried to copy a picture yet. i feel there may be better scanners out there. bottom line it does the job for what i needed so i am happy with it. i would tell my friends to look elsewhere if they have more money to spend.

I wanted something that was easy to use to transfer photos and slides to my computer and this totally met my needs! The results exceeded my expectations and I am very pleased with the scanner. It is vastly easier to use than my printer/scanner and works in seconds rather than minutes. I liked the fact that it is powered through the USB. If I were to improve the product it would be to make one slide/picture holder capable of fitting pictures that are not standard sizes. I looked at comparable products and didn't see anything close to the price.

Very poor quality. Never able to scan a photo or slide and have it come out right. The light casts a shade on it so it looks like you took the picture in full sun. Very poorly built. If you want a cheap scanner that does not work at all this is the one.

In one word JUNK. It leaves a halo around the photo and the negative holders are so hard to unsnap I pulled my fingernails away from my fingers trying to get them apart. The negative scan is better looking than the photo but still have to use photoshop to make them worth printing. My mistake was not reading the warranty by the time I had to use it and test everything it was out of warranty.

Diffidently is not worth the money. I think the seller knew the product was not very good that is why there is only a seven day warranty on it with fees to return it.

I am not completely convinced yet I have tried to convert negatatives and it was not very effective at all, I could not get it to illuminate the image with any degree of clarity. the jury is still out on the snapshot conversion, I am cautiously skeptic about the overall performance effectiveness.
