Cobra Electronics HH 38 WX ST 40-Channels Handheld CB Radio

I broke one, so I replaced it 5 years ago. I realized that I need a second one. I began shopping for price. I found an online dealer, where the price was excellent. The Cobra HH38WXST is a great little radio. I used it as a truck driver when I was in trailer yards locating a trailer for a yard mule driver to pull out a loaded trailer. I would radio to the Yard driver where the trailer was located and have the guy come and get it out. I also use this radio for all kinds of field events, and roadside emergencies. I love the clarity of Sound Tracker. The weather channels are wonderful, they have saved me a number of times from getting soaked or traveling through snowstorms. The one shortcoming is the factory antenna. It is worth it to buy the Cobra extendable or purchasing the Radio Shack extendable antenna. The signal out of those two antennas greatly increase signal distance from the factory supplied antenna. With a full 4 watts legal output The Cobra HH38 is a fine radio. It is not a toy, it is a well thought out radio. I am a ham radio operator, and I am into many kinds of radios. The Cobra HH38WXST has been and is an excellent radio since it's inception. I wouldn't have purchased a third one If I didn't think so. I found an Ebay store that had the best price, for a brand new one. My other two had broken parts, which I could order new from Cobra. Now I have three in Good working condition. My two older ones are 5 & 6 years old and with new parts are back in good working order. I hope Cobra continues to manufacture this radio for many years to come.

Sturdy compact handheld radio. Scans all 40 CB channels plus has 10 weather channels. Has an additional feature to improve reception clarity. Relatively light weight and user friendly design. Cobra is a reliable brand name. I chose the product based on the reputation of the brand. An array of accessories is available on the Cobra web site. I just slip the radio in the side pocket of my vehicle and when the road gets clogged up with traffic, I just listen and someone usually explains where the tie up is and where it ends. It is also comforting to have Channel 9 available if I have a roadside emergency and do not have cell phone coverage.

Love the quality of this 40 channel hand held Cobra C.B., buttons and knobs are real, this is NOT a cheap piece of crap! it's easy to use and ergonomics are good with all the buttons easy to reach, Speaker quality is great, Sound Tracker works well, Weather Channel comes in strong and clear, read out has a button for back lit feature which is nice in the dark, im using this C.B in an Disaster/Emergency pack i put together so the battery saver feature is handy for long term emergency situations, Scan feature is really great when driving, you might want to consider the Cobra Road Trip instead as it is the same radio but comes with the magnetic car antenna as well as the short mobile one,unit recieved ok but you really need the car antenna for optimum performance, I purchased a Cobra antenna for my HH38WXST ($20.00) and also had to purchase an adapter to make it work, Part# HA-BNC ($7.00) for the additional money it would have been cheaper to buy the Cobra Road Trip package! with the excellent professional quality and great features of this Hand Held I would honestly say that it is an excellent buy and worth every penny!

i like the features and the quality of this radio. it has great sound, very clear. the transmitter is also very strong. a freind and i both use this same cabra 38 radio to talk back and forth between our convertables when we are traveling.there is also several motorcycles that travel with us. they have built in c.b. radios. our cobra is just as strong as their built in radios. a very good product.

Works great!! Better than expected for a handheld. Weather Channels are a great help. Great for road trips and traffic information.
