The move from his acoustic folk debut INSIDE WANTS OUT to the electric pop of his breakthroughs, ROOM FOR SQUARES and HEAVIER THINGS, showed him to be a singer, guitarist, and songwriter of range as well as commercial durability. Mayer then confounded the critics who dismissed him as a Dave Matthews clone when he released a raw, rootsy, blues-based live album with a trio that featured ace session musicians. The horizons of Mayer's musical world continued to expand with 2006's CONTINUUM. Mellow and soulful, yet textured and sophisticated in execution, CONTINUUM incorporates all the elements of the artist's previous releases while raising the bar on craft, musicianship, and tunesmithery. Classic blues, R&B, and soul are the major touchstones here, but Mayer doesn't merely ape his influences; instead he assimilates them into a personal singer-songwriter mode that is as affecting as it is understated. Mid-tempo and downtempo grooves dominate, but the man still has a way with a lilting, folk-tinged melody (as on the lovely "The Heart of Life"). Mayer's deft guitar work and increasingly nuanced singing take center stage on first listen, but it is his heartfelt, beautifully written songs that truly make CONTINUUM shine.

4 stars out of 5 -- His breathy vocals are firmly at the album's center, and the R&B tradition he's mining lends weight to his pop flourishes.

One word. Awesome.

It's all I can think about. I want to listen to it 24/7.

I downloaded 'Waiting for the World to Change' as soon as it was released as a single. Good stuff. I will always love this guy's music - he's an incredible musician, has abundant talent and can play a badass guitar. He's even better when he's live.

Today, though, I was able to download the entire album. And let me just say, for what it's worth, that you NEED this album in your library. Yes, I'm talking to you and I'm not kidding.

My faves (already) are Belief, I'm Gonna Find Another You (which has an great 'oldies' feel to it), Gravity, Vultures and I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You). Gravity and Vultures were originally on the album TRY! featuring the John Mayer Trio. I loved them then and I love them now.

There's music on this album for everyone. Stuff to make you reminisce, to make you chill out and to make you want to really rock out. Total greatness... I'm in love!!

A Work Of Art ~SOULFUL & REAL~A Musical Masterpiece

Now THIS Is Music!!!! Unlike ANYTHING out there today. John Mayer brings a true Musical Masterpiece. Its Got SOUL, Rythum & Makes You feel ALIVE. The CD is deeply refreshing...and I warn you..ITS CONTAGIOUS!!!...I couldnt stop playing it...!!! It makes you move, sing, and it envelopes you into a world of SOULFUL BLISS! I loved his first CD, and I liked the second, but i have to say i just cant get enough of this one. There's NOT one song i want to fast forward through..which is usually a normal reaction I have when playing alot of the music today. Im one who likes a variety of music..depending on my mood and the day,..i can go from metal rock, to western to hip hop to the golden oldies, to alternative to the blues...but this...this is, and, John Mayer in general, is, in a catagory all his own...I can play this and be in the mood for it at any time!!! It lifts you up & makes you move, it makes you sing and bellow at the top of you're lungs, and there are songs so touching they ease the soul, all the while producing an everlasting beat and rythum that is enticing & deeply bone tingling.A MUSICAL GENIUS...You can feel his heart & mind, with every guitar string, & every word that he sings,..its so REAL...and that is just one word that sums it all up...REAL......Im already SOOOOO excited for his next work of art!!!

John really grows with this new album. His hit "Waiting on the world to change" crosses over and grabs the non-commercial blues crowd who have heard it. Some of the pieces that are outstanding are; "Idon't trust myself", "gravity", and "Slow dancing in a burning room" One can hear the Blues influence on this album that probably came from John working with BB King on his 80th Birthday album. It's wonderful to see a young contempory artist helping keep the Post Modern Classic Blues sound alive. John is really growing forward and back at the same time with this super new album.

I love this CD! I can not get enough of it. John Mayer is amazing!

I especially the Continuum CD on a rainy day or a tough to get out of bed morning. It is such a smooth and soulful take on life and the world. Really puts things into perspective and makes you appreciate being fortunate!

Room for Squares (Your Body is a Wonderland) is also one of the best albums I have ever heard!

John Mayer continuum cd -it's amazing!

I love his new cd. I love how well John is able to express his feelings and ideas in song. Two of my favorite songs on the cd is "vultures" and "slow dancing in a burning room." "Waiting on the world to change" is good but doesn't-in my opinion-do it for me like the other songs.
