A Cool, Dry Place (DVD, 2004)

If you are looking for action, skip this movie. However, it is a well-paced, finely etched character study of a man in conflict. When his wife leaves him with their small boy, Russ moves to rural Kansas and is faced with conflicting choices--follow his ambitions as a lawyer, or become the attentive father the child needs. He is constantly losing cases due to the demands of raising a pre-schooler. Enter the wife and a dream job in Dallas that precludes his son. Upon his return, the estranged wife has taken the child and he is faced again with a moral dilemma. I will not give away the tag line. This is a movie to savor for it's rich portrayals. I have never been a fan of Vince Vaughn until I watched his sensitive performance as the troubled father. This is what many would term a "little" movie that works on the emotions in a very "big" way and well worth the watch. The cast is superb and the writing is coherent and touching.

Vince Vaughn is excellent in this Movie! His best ever ! He can really act--no matter what type of roll ! Would highly suggest seeing this and all Vince Vaughn movies...there's one for every imaginable mood

I DECIDED TO BUY THIS MOVIE BECAUSE IT'S A HEART WARMING STORY.THIS MOVIE REMINDS ME A LITTLE OF KRAMER vs. KRAMER.I WON'T SAY ANYMORE.YOU'LL HAVE TO BUY IT IF YOU REALLY LOVE A MAN WHO'LL GO TO EXTREME LENGHTS TO KEEP HIS CHILD!!

I like the fact that I was able to find this movie. I looked high and low and of coarse I found it on Ebay. It was in the condition stated and I enjoyed the movie very much and would tell others if they like movies like this one to buy it!

I got this movie because I had seen it on cable but I couldn't seen it complete. And for a change its not the girl who is left with a kid but the guy.
Nice movie.
