Movie synopsis

This energetic blend of live-action and animation was director Ralph Bakshi's answer to WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT and marked his return to feature films after an eight-year hiatus. The story follows two humans who encounter Cool World--a parallel universe where cartoons actually exist--and tangle with the seductive Holli Would (Kim Basinger), an ambitious animated bombshell determined to escape into three-dimensional reality. Gabriel Byrne plays Jack Deebs, the comic book artist who created and then is seduced by Holli; and Brad Pitt plays Detective Frank Harris, the Cool World cop out to make sure humans don't have sex with cartoon characters, since that act can rupture the fabric between the two universes. Of course the rupturing occurs, and all sorts of freewheeling animated hell breaks loose as cartoon misfits of all shapes and sizes invade the city of Las Vegas. With a thumping techno score that includes tracks from Moby and David Bowie and such goofy touches as Holli singing "Let's Make Love" with Frank Sinatra Jr., COOL WORLD is definitely a freaky place to visit.

I'm unsure of how to describe this movie, because it is so unlike any other movie I have seen. It shows how there is a world of cartoons and the world we know and that it is possible, but difficult, to pass from one world to the other. The cartoon world is called the Cool World, where cartoons can live and do whatever it is that they do... But there's one particularly naughty toon Holli Would. She wants to become human, and live life to its absolute fullest. Human cop, Brad Pitt, has to stop her from creating mayhem, but only his trusty side kick will help him. Holli's creator, Jack, wants to do her every bidding, which makes stopping her that much harder.

If you are really on the fence about whether or not to watch this movie, PLEASE read some real reviews about it. As much as I adore this movie, I am not doing it justice.

Saw this One For My Birthday Years Ago....

Saw this One For My Birthday Years Ago.... It definitely was a cartoon with an "attitude', in that it was over the top for its' time!

The film combined live actionwith animation much the same way as the movie 'Who Framed Rodger Rabbit' did, but with more violence, and not all of it cartoonish!

Cool World took the premise of cartoon characters and real life persons crossing the barrier into each others' worlds with a cast of way out characters, both human and 'toons.

Not recomended for children!

Brad Pitt fans will like this role he plays!

For those people who love cartoons with attitude, this is a cartoon for you. "Cool World" combines real life with animation much the same way as the movie "Who Framed Rodger Rabbit".

Cool World takes the idea of cartoons and real life crossing the line into each others worlds with a hilarious cast of characters, both human and toons.
This is a cartoon movie with an ADULT theme....NOT recomended for children.

Thank you,

Any Cooler World?

Excellent movie and with this being Brads first noteable movie it will always be worth something in good to excellent shape and i'm glad i have one. And then the beautiful Kim Basinger, wow what a treat to see her as a *Doodle* and in the real. This movie was beyond it's time when made and will always be a cult classic. Get an original that will be worth something down the road, keep it back,it will exceed it's value. Or just get a newer copy for you and your kids to see what it was like when Brad and Kim made it in this *Cool,Cool World. Love the movie, the idea of it and the actors. Fun to watch.

Title of movie does not fit the movie at all.

One must consider the age of this movie to appreciate it. It is a fun action movie that I bought because I remember it in the 1980's. I remember that it used state-of-the-art special effects similar the movie "Roger Rabbit". The movie could not have been made without the new effects. Most people do not remember that Brad Pitt was in this movie, who was pretty much a nobody at the time. It will never be a classic, but it is worth seeing.
