Count Dracula (DVD, 2007)

There has never been a better Dracula than Louis Jordan. He is sexy and handsome and suits the part well. This BBC series came out the 1ate 1970's and has withstood the test of time. This is a great series and honors Bram Stoker's novel well.

I have waited nearly thirty years to get a broadcast-quality copy of this, the only version closely faithful to he original Stoker tale. It doesn't change or twist characters and their original roles around like every Hollywood version has. And it doesn't add any new twists to the plot line. Doesn't overly romanticize Dracula...finally a cold, calculating monster like Stoker intended, Jourdan is excellent. And it was long before CGI garbage, but has the best wall-crawling scene EVER! If you don't get a chill watching Dracula flop headfirst down the side of his castle like a bat, you ain't human.

The acting is very good overall, and the BBC did an excellent job getting everything packed into an approx. two-hour time slot. Better get a copy before it disappars again. Your vampire collection is woefully incomplete without it!

I really enjoy movies about Dracula. This dvd stays very close to the novel version. The special effects are not fantastic but the story line is on point. I would make this purchase again and it is a dvd that I will keep in my library.

I liked how the vampires were rounded out, they had personalities, lives, histories. The whole story was there complete and complex, it could go on longer which would be great. It shows vampires as three dimenional which I really like, great series.
