The Craft (DVD, 2000, Special Edition)

The Craft is an entertaining movie about four Catholic High School girls who form a witches' coven in order to deal with their individual life problems. They remain the best of friends until the practical one, Sarah, realizes that they've bitten off more than they can chew by invoking the spirit on a May's eve. Their leader, Nancy, then becomes hostile and consumed by the entity inside her, taking its power through darkness and Sarah must invoke the spirit herself in order to fend for her life. The witchcraft portrayed in this film is highly inaccurate and does not reflect the true religion of Wicca. However, the life lesson found within this story of four friends cannot be ignored. Simply, what the movie seeks to tell us all is that we should never reckon with forces we don't fully understand, for there will be negative consequences. Furthermore, the film preaches a few other inevitable truths. When a gift is given, it should never be abused. Revenge is never the answer. Never attempt to find a quick fix for problems in your life. Humans should never attempt mastery over nature. Friendship is the most valuable gift of all. It is because of these human elements that the film endears.

A VERY VERY GOOD MOVIE!!! We watched this movie years ago when it first came out, and have wanted it since. We recently had the opportunity to purchase it, and we did!!

A very enjoyable and interesting movie about witchcraft and the supernatural, and by witchcraft, we're not talking flying broomsticks! We're talking common day witches.

The film is very well written, and the acting cast offers a SUPERB PERFORMANCE!!

A MUST BUY!!!

It will keep your attention from beginning to end, and we'll want to watch it many times! The kids will also enjoy it(though some explicit language).

This movie is the basic triumph of good over evil and how magic is neither GOOD nor BAD, but the SPIRIT in which it's used determines the outcome. The characters are excellent and the special effects are fantastic. It's creepy with bug and snake scenes and genuine with teenagers looking for something else to do when they get bored. Get your popcorn, soda and candy 'cause it's gonna be a great night to watch this MOVIE!! I've owned two VHS copies and ruined them..that's why I'm getting the DVD now. Hopefully, it'll last longer!

SARAH HAS ALWAYS BEEN DIFFERENT. SO AS THE NEWCOMER AT ST. BENEDICT'S ACADEMY, SHE IMMEDIATELY FALLS IN WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL OUTSIDERS. BUT THESE GIRLS WON'T SETTLE FOR BEING A GROUP OF POWERLESS MISFITS. THEY HAVE DISCOVERED THE CRAFT,AND THEY ARE GOING TO USE IT.

If you like movies regarding the occult this movie's for you. I wouldn't call it 'horror' movie material. It contains graphic language and voilence (some blood and scenes with knives)...but not enough to bother a true horror movie hater like myself. I loved the clothing and make-up and 'wildness' of the girls.
