    Movie synopsis

After surviving a head-on car collision that triggers a raw sexual awakening, a bored, nihilistic television producer assembles a following of other bored, death-obsessed nihilists who seek kinky thrills by investigating the ostensible erotic basis of the twisted metal, skid marks, and adrenaline rushes of auto smash-ups. Based on the eponymous novel by J. G. Ballard. The film's controversial thesis won accolades from some (a Cannes Special Prize) and censure from others. Available in rated and unrated versions.

I really enjoyed this movie, but before you rush out and buy it I should present a caveat. Unless you are open minded and are not easily offended, then perhaps this movie isn't for you. If you like to be challenged by views you have probably never been exposed to and if you like the unique interpretation of scripts by James Spader, then you will probably find this movie as fascinating and challenging as I did. While not everything in life comes down to political points of view, I think the following statement will provide the answer as to whether it is worth your time and money to purchase the film: If you're from a "red state" and think the rest of the country is out-of-touch, then DON'T buy it, don't even watch it. If you're from a "blue state" and are annoyed that narrow minds are running the USA into the ground, then go ahead and give it a shot. I can't guarantee you'll like it, but I promise you will not forget it and have probably never seen anything like it. It's not a movie for young children or the squeamish and should not be confused in any way with the movie Crash from 2005-2006.
For those of you who do watch this 90's flick you will be amazed at the talents of Spader, Hunter et. al. There are very few actors who could pull-off such a grand performance and make this screen play seem actually plausible.
As a final guideline to gauge whether you might like this or not, I also enjoyed controversial films like: Man Who Fell To Earth, Brother From Another Planet, Last Tango In Paris, Midnight Cowboy, Raising Arizona and Eyes Wide Shut. If you liked the movies on this list, you'll probably like Crash.

This movie contained original subject matter more daring than anything I had ever seen. I was drawn to it because it was so different, whether sick or special it is worth collecting.
