As a Health Educator, I read tons of books. This is one of the top 3 books I've read in the past 10 years. I think I've purchased about 10 copies of it, and continue to pick up used copies whenever I find them. The precepts in this thesis are so relevant to contemporary American eating habits. Ms. Simontacchi shows the cause and effect relationship between our dietary choices and the way we act and feel. Everyone should read this book, and then pass it on to a teacher or counselor. (That's why I keep buying copies; I know so many professionals who can really benefit from the info here.) By heeding the advice in this book, we can change our mental health profile without drugs, and even improve our vitality levels. I absolutely LOVE this book. A must read if you have kids, are a childbirth educator, or are in the health, teaching or counseling professions.

If you think "you are what you eat" then this book will scare you silly. Excellent information about how our American diet got so skewed over time, based on marketing and money, ignoring health warnings and covering up potential problems.

The scariest part to me was reading about how so many mothers switched to baby formula instead of breast feeding because they trust their doctors - and their doctors were pressured by the formula marketing into recommending formula instead of breastfeeding.

But then there's the part about MSG (monosodium glutamate) in baby foods (and others)...

    This is an eye-opener.

Wow! What a powerful book. It's full of very helpful information if you are concerned about the health, both mentally and physically of our future generations. I am sharing this information with my children in hopes that they will make some drastic changes in the diets of my grandchildren. It's all about educating ourselves.

Received the book in perfect condition and very quickly.

I bought this book for my medical sociology class. It is a great book to learn nutritional facts and to evaluate your own eating habits. The book also has great recipes at the end of the book that anyone can follow. I highly recommend this book.
