For Younger Women Facing a Cancer Diagnosis
Created: 28/04/08
Having recently received a cancer diagnosis at age 34, I was in search of a book on cancer that I could relate to and connect with. Although this book did not specifically pertain to my type of cancer (cervical), and certainly contained some ideas/suggestions that I could not identify with, I found most of the advice to be witty, daring, relevant and refreshing. Ms. Carr's take on life with cancer and how to not only survive it, but to thrive with it, is exactly what I needed. I, too, felt as though I was a survivor from the start and it was nice to know that amidst all of the "doom and gloom" and purely clinical books out there, a book existed which higlighted the desires, determination and strengths of other young women battling all different types of cancer. Ms. Carr's "cancer posse" (highlighted throughout the book)is comprised of many amazing, talented and inspirational women whose stories helped me to put things into perspective and to focus on all that I have and have accomplished, rather than on what I have lost and can no longer do.
Although I did not personally have the financial or personal ability/freedom that Ms. Carr did to stop working and explore the world, I still found many tips and ideas in her book (and in her documentary film of the same title) that I could put to use in my own life. This book may not contain all of the answers you are looking for, but for any young woman facing a cancer diagnosis who has a zest for life and a will to fight, this book will provide you with that untraditional, unconditional, fresh "you can do anything if you put your mind to it" support that many of us are looking for.

This book is a wonderful, upbeat, out of the ordinary guide for women who have been given the "diagnosis".Filled with humor, shared stories of brave womens cancer kicking experiences and lots of alternative life and sanity saving suggestions. I purchased this book after my cancer diagnosis, and I have since changed my lifestyle and outlook on recovery. I have also shared it with other friends diagnosed with breast cancer. Kris Carr takes us on a joyful journey. Don't miss this trip.

Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips

Great book, funny & sad with some strong language. I am owner of a wig studio and give the book to customers having a hard time dealing with it all. It helps you if you have cancer and it helps you if someone you know has cancer.

I decided to buy it because I heard about what this author is going through and the things she found out about foods in general.
