CSI: New York - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2005, 7-Disc Set)

One thing that I cannot do is compare CSI NY to the other CSI series. I've been watching CSI NY from the beginning but have never seen an episode from any of the other CSI shows. Guess its not necessary since they are only related in title and the category of crime drama. What I can say, however, is that I really enjoy the New York series and that is why I decided to purchase it. This is coming from someone who does not exactly buy a lot of box sets -- uh, mostly because they are so costly. It was well worth the price though (alright, so I waited until I could get a more reasonable price on Amazon.)

All of the cast members do a good job overall but it is really Gary Sinise and Melinda Kanakaredes who really make this show work. There is a definite chemistry between their two characters and they portray an excellent crime solving team. Difficult to pick a single favorite episode since I really do like all of them. No corny dialogue here, just good acting and interesting stories. Nice packaging and an entire disc of extras are also included. A lot of people buy DVDs for the extras and its always a disappointment when none are included. No disappointment here though. Already looking forward to purchasing season two.

My family and I have really gotten into CSI New York and CSI Miami. I wanted to know more about Mac played by Gary Sinise. My husband bought me the first season and an anniversary gift. The first episode was with both Heracio Caine from Miami and Mac Taylor from New York and immediately I was hooked. It's fast paced, has a heart and is just good entertainment.

At first I didn't think I was gonna accept CSI: New York. (Since I enjoyed the Las Vegas cast so much) After watching the first DVD of the 7, I realized that New York didn't seem so scripted as Las Vegas and was even better. The cast fits perfectly into the New York set. (Most of them grew up/lived there in real life) So they all have the New York accent. There is humor and in depth analysis of the characters, and not just the same old, examine evidence and solve the crime.

The recipient thought it was wonderful! She is a CSI NY freak and just loved having the whole first year at hand. I think that this CSI is one of the better ones, even though my favorite is CSI LV. In this show, Gary Sinise is a credible investigator, he is a good character actor, and the rest of the ensemble cast play well off each other.

Though it is hard to ever beat an original series, the spin-offs of CSI-Vegas give it all they've got. CSI-NY has a more darker and grittier nature than either Vegas or Miami. To me it seems that all the characters in NY are slightly more developed than the other CSI. While Vegas will always be my favorite, NY is coming in a very close second.
I would encourage people watch this.
