Great slap echo for little money

This pedal is my first delay/echo pedal, so I can't honestly compare this with any other delay pedal. The reason I got this pedal was because I wanted a pedal that could do slap echo really well. For longer, more interesting delays I plan to get a different pedal. I had read some good reviews of the Danelectro BLT and liked the sound samples I had heard of it. And for how cheap it is, I decided it was worth a shot.
When I received it I was really impressed with what I heard. I instantly had a cool slap echo sound that reminded me of some of the old 50's recordings. This pedal is also very easy to use for a newbie to delay pedals. Just two knobs, Mix (amount of echo) and Repeat (amount of repeats). This pedal does not have true bypass and when I have the pedal in my chain it makes my guitar sound a little brighter. This can be good and bad depending on the sound I want. Though, most of the time all it requires is an adjustment of my amp's tone knob or the tone knob on my guitar if it sounds too bright.
Personally, I like the look of some of these Danelectro pedals and it's cool to have some purple with my other pedals. The housing is plastic, but this doesn't bother me too much because I don't stomp my pedals or beat them up too much. I use a Boss power supply with this and I have no issues, so I don't know how long it lasts on a battery.
Overall, this is a great pedal for the money. It's a one trick pony, but does it's one trick very well. You should not get this pedal if you want a versatile delay pedal. Based off the many delay pedals I've read about and heard online, I don't think there is a perfect delay pedal that can do it all for a resonable price. I'd give this five stars if it was in a metal housing and was true bypass.

I think it works pretty good. The size makes it easy to store and carry and its simple to use. The sound is clear and for an echo pedal it sound pretty real unlike some multi effect pedals that make overkill sounds.

Pedal review

It's a fun little pedal. Short echo is exactly what it does. Hauling around a tape echo machine (if you can afford one) is a pain. It was the one way to get the slap back echo that is the authentic 50's Rock-a-billy sound that made Elvis an icon in the music industry.
This pedal is from a line of inexpensive pedals that are really pretty good effects. The electronics are where the money went and the case is something that won't survive if you abuse it...but then a slap back echo isn't used in music that has a tendency to cause abuse of equipment.
It does what it is designed for in a small package. For DIYers, it's probably easy enough to get a case that is more solid and transfer it over...if you like to do such things.
It's not versatile as delays go. It does one thing really well so if you are playing 50's and 60's music, it's "The King"!
