Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent CTO-1 Overdrive Guitar Effect Pedal

The transparent overdrive is as described. It takes your guitar's tone and gives it a nice warm clean overdrive sound. I like the fact that it doesn't color my guitar's natural sweet tone. It just boost it. This is not your average overdrive/distortion pedal. It doesn't bury your tone in deathmetal drudge. Instead it boost whatever tone you want it to. For the money, the best distortion pedal I ever bought.

The version 1 of the CTO does live up to the hype that it comes very close to the tones normally associated with the higher-end Timmy overdrive pedal. While I'm not in favor of outright piracy (i.e., I hope Danelectro took care of the makers of the original Timmy in their legal settlement) I am a guitar player working on a budget... and if you can find one then I recommend you think about this as a great addition to your pedalboard when money is tight... they sound great with both a Strat and a Les Paul. If you can afford the real deal then go for the Timmy... I know I'll be thinking about getting a real one when I've got more $$$. But for now this baby is a great pedal at a great price.

Well I will start by saying that the Cool Cat TOD-V2 is one COOL pedal ! True bypass ! If you have pedal board, or just a few pedals this one is a must have in the chain ! One of the most versatile Overdrive pedals that I have come across ! You can go from clean blues tones, to dirty ! heavy rock to heavy metal ! There are others but I would recommend the Cool Cat to any guitarist that wants a great OD pedal that can be used as a clean or dirty boost. I use it as a boost in my pedal chain ! I'm a player who likes different amounts of gain.My pedal board has 4 OD/Dist on it. Sometimes I like just a little "grit" putting just a little bit of hair on it. The Transparent OD does just that. I must say it responds best to single coil pick ups better. But getting my base clean sound intact with a layer of grit on top of it is nice. Like the product (version 1) great tone/not expensive.

Great overdrive pedal, clean to crunch and back again. Yes, it did surprise me considering it's a Danelectro but then again all the reviews I've read did give it a glowing recommendation. If you see one up for sale, buy it, just make sure it's the Version 1 not the Version 2. TIMMY!
