With a list price of around 15 bucks, anyone would be wise to be skeptical about the quality and usability of these pedals, but the sound quality is absolutely amazing for any price, and the plastic it's housed in seems tough enough to get the job done.
This thing will give you some serious sustain, crunch, saturation, really it's the ideal metal sound. Fantastic on palm mutes and scorching for leads. Sounds wonderful on chords as well as single notes. Brings out any and all pick harmonics and adds a bunch of its own. Does not sound cheesy at all. Loads of bottom end. Sounds something like a modern, refined, controllable Big Muff Pi but much tighter. Works well on bass guitar as well, in which case it sounds something like the Hammond roar on Deep Purple's Machine Head. Just about the angriest pedal I've ever monkeyed with that could still be controlled. Takes an ordinary Boss/Ibanez power supply. Eye piercing bright blue led.
The little it weighs is mostly the metal plate on the bottom, the rest of the pedal is a tough, lightweight plastic. Not as tough as die cast but adequate. I like the way the knobs are on the back to prevent them being stomped off. Cheap enough to be disposable- if it breaks after a couple years or so, lunch money gets another one...
Things I don't like- it's all SMD components so fixing or modding wouldn't be easy, a little noisy(not surprising for such high gain), an I'm not confident in the durability of the switch, although it's fine so far.

I bought this particular pedal on a whim. It was on sale at a local chain, used. I think this was the first pedal I ever bought. If you want distortion and some strange and unique sounds, then look into this pedal. As I said, being my first pedal I wasn't sure what to expect. WELL, EXPECT EVERYTHING! I was playing the Star Spangled Banner ala Jimi the same afternoon. Danelectro products have been around for a long time. I happen to like thier "feel", and have purchased several sets. I did spend some time putting together the blues board and the metal board, with the smaller Danelectro line of pedals. I like the size and price of those pedals, can pick some up at the pawn shop for $10 bucks. Bad part is the smaller pedals can be noisy,(here's where you can spend some money...cables), Having said that, I still love them. I get to tap dance. But< I digress, Recently, I went ahead and found all the full size Dan-o-matic pedals, and have to say they are worth the search. I even got the tuner, might as well go all the way. SO, now i am selling my "metal" board, case, 5 pedals, some brand new. I am in the process of getting any Danelectro products, EXCEPT, thier guitars. Personally, not my cup of tea. Tube screamers are cool, try this screamer and see......

This is a cheap pedal! Broke within 1 day!! Not the sellers fault though!!! Cheaply Manufactured. Input and output jacks were very loose , and would not accept the cable correctly. There is a constant loud noise when turned on. The loud noise stays on whether you are playing the guitar or not, and gets louder when you touch the strings. Sounded great the first day though. Put in new battery just to make sure that wasnt the cause, and also tried a power supplly. I do not recommend that anyone buy this. Just spend the extra 20 bucks and get a descent one.

Cheap Pedal, Cheap price

This items does the job, if you want cheap trashy 1980 or later metal distortion.
Good gain. Tone control is continuous but sounds the same throughout most of the middle of the range. I'll treat it as a 3 position switch.
I'm not convinced it's roadable but I wanted a distortion effect for direct recording. Decent value for the money, and another tool for the collection..
