Memories Unearthed

IF your into the cartoons from the 90s this is a must. This season pack is filled to the brim with sarcasm experienced from the teen years that many have gone through. Daria encompasses the plight of the high school student who is up to their neck in young adult problems that really do not matter. If you can see the ridiculousness in other's actions and realize how incredibly trivial some of their situations are, mainly superficiality, then you will love this.
Menu is easy to follow, do not have to be a video wizz to get from the case to the anticipated episodes.
Trust me when I say cartoons like this will never exist again. Cartoons are rapidly becoming lamer by year and there is no stopping it. Collect this artifact from an age where people could go to their cartoons and actually learn something useful from it.
The only thing disappointing about it was it didn't have the original music from when it was aired on mtv. Other than that, this is gold.

Cynicism, Sarcasm, and Realism have a love child.

Daria is, by far, one of my favorite shows. It highlights the angst and struggles of a less-than-understood teenage girl. It shows her struggles in growing up as a "misfit" or an "outcast" and provides not only hope, but inspiration for young people who deal with the same problems. Daria is a well-read, articulate, anti-social individual who happens upon a friend (Jane Lane) when she is forced to go to a new school (Lawndale High) when her parents move. Jane proves to be a nice catalyst for Daria's sarcastic, monotonous persona whilst adding to her "charm" with a matching wit and droll cynicism toward the world around them. Where Daria's family cares "too much" for what goes on in her life, Jane's cares "too little", showing teens and adolescents that no matter what the circumstance, it is always hard to deal with your parents. However, it also shows that no matter what type of parenting your parents choose, it doesn't mean they love you any less.
The show itself can be considered a little vulgar for some younger audience members, so I would recommend viewer discretion based on what you think is acceptable. Yes, there is sexual innuendo and there are profanities. Probably a PG-13 if it were rated.
Another positive aspect of the show is it draws notice to all the different cliques in the high school setting, showing how preposterous said cliques really are. I adore the show and would recommend it to anyone with a good sense of humor and an appreciation for sarcasm.

Like Cake without the Icing-Good but missing one thing

Yes, this is Daria as we remember her. The sarcastic humor is there. The emotionless classic lines are all there. The music isn't. It is like cake without the icing. The show is good but lacks the frosty highlight it had during it's MTV run. First-time watchers or casual fans may not even notice the lack of original 90s music, but true Daria fans will. In some scenes the joke is centered around the song that isn't playing and the punchline is unclear. I am glad Daria made it to DVD but the music of that era has lost an entire new generation due to licensing rights. What a Sick, Sad World we have become.

I love Daria. Long time no see these episodes. It was great when MTV used to play music videos, and they had awesome tv shows like Daria. Now days not so much... I miss the old MTV!

Daria Complete Series - FINALLY
Created: 30/03/11
I have been waiting for this set to come out for YEARS! It is an excellent set. The quality of the picture is not the best I have ever seen - looks pretty much like it did on MTV. The music has been changed from the original air date (the cost of using the original music is what kept them from releasing the set for so long) but otherwise the set is excellent and makes me totally nostalgic.
