First Season a Great Adventure
Created: 01/07/08
In Season One of James Cameron's two-season sci-fi series, the viewer learns the stories of Max (played by the ever-stunning Jessica Alba), a genetically enhanced super-soldier who escaped her creators as a child, and Logan, an independantly wealthy freedom fighter in a post-economic crash Seattle.
The plot is excellent and the dialogue, though at times a bit cheesy, is well-delivered. The action sequences are second-to-none (at least, none on TV), and some of the moral messages in the show are fantastic.
I bought season one because of Jessica Alba, but I wind up watching it over and over because I love the story. Believe it or not, there's something that everyone can connect with in the ongoing saga of a genetically enhanced super-soldier who escaped her top-secret government confines to live and work as a dirt-poor, message delivery-girl by day and thief-turned-freedom fighter by night, in-and-out of love with a self-righteous rich kid (who is apparently the only decent human being on the planet with any mooney left).
After I watched this season, my younger sisters actually fell in love with the show and bought season two, which I thought was just a tad campy, althuogh still worth watching.
So, I would rcommend this series to anyone who likes sci-fi, action/adventure, or just eye-candy.
Peace. Out.

A must-own for Alba fans

Dark Angel was the first of many that started to come out in the "chicks kick butt" genre of the entertainment world a few years back. As an avid lover of this genre, I was readily sucked into the series during its first season. The bleak futuristic setting, the camaraderie of the characters, the scientific intrigue of genetically enhanced super-soldiers, and the action all kept me entertained. But as a red-blooded male, it is pretty obvious why I bought this DVD set: it doesn't matter whether you own a plasma, DLP, or regular tube TV, the exotic beauty of Jessica Alba will melt your screen.

Dark Angel - Season 1 (2003, DVD)
Created: 03/06/07
Dark Angel is an exciting sci-fi series set in a dystopian not-at-all distant future. After a pulse disabled most technology in 2009, the US was set back to living like a third world country. Crime and violence run rampant. Max, played by Jessica Alba, is a genetically engineered soldier who escaped from her captors and is trying to find a life as a normal girl in this unfortunate setting. Over the series she tries to find her genetically engineered siblings and works on do-gooder causes with her romantic interest, hacker "Eyes Only" Logan.
The show set a president of having a "girl-power" lead character, who was effectively the "brawn" while male love interest was wheelchair bound and the "brains." With great story lines, romance, and plenty of action its hard to believe the series only lasted 2 seasons.

Dark Angel Season 1 & 2
Created: 30/12/08
If you have seen any of the Dark Angel series this set is a must have. I was very impressed with the quality and special features included. I only hope they continue the series some day. James Cameron does a great job. Hope to see a season 3 and more with Jessica Alba and Michael Weatherly, they really make this show work, great acting in my opinion. Season 2 does kind of leave you with a lot of unanswered questions. Lets hope they can finish it someday.

A solid beginning....

This is the first season of James Cameron's (and let's not forget that fact) Dark Angel. Let's simply move past the obvious attractiveness of Jessica Alba in tight leather fighting people and look at the actual show. Besides the not so smooth start that any show faces there is a lot of potential here. The characters, other than Alba, start off as one dimensional tag-alongs but develop pretty well throughout the season. The storyline is well developed and the plot plays well from episode to episode. The season ends with a super, maybe even over, twisted ending. There are faults, like a poorly developed love interest and in the beginning the series seriously trys too hard to incorporate "hip hop" (quote from creators as funny as that sounds) language and sometimes the conversations can distract from what is really a quality series. If you like Smallville you will like this series.
