Dark Shadows - The Beginning Episodes 1-35 (DVD, 2007, 4-Disc Set)

These episodes are like taking a step back in time.
The sets are so simple and the black and white format of the day is just so awesome to share with my children ...who find it hard to believe that we watched TV with no color or "flashy" special effects.

These very early episodes are also able to lay the ground work for the later, more prevalent characters such as Barnabas and Quentin and the mystery that shrouds Collinwood.

I highly recommend these for the true "Dark Shadows" fan.

Anyone that has ever watched Dark Shadows has to see the Beginnigs Collections! It is way before Barnabus came to the show, I am not a big movie fan or a big TV person at all but growing up i watched this on tv after I came home from school. It takes you back and you remember so much of this time in your life (I am only 52)This collection is priceless. This is when TV was really good and life was simpler. I hate watching movies but this is really good! The picture quality is so good just like it was or maybe even a little better than i remember.

I have been waiting a long time to get Dark Shadows the beginning. I love it! Black and white episodes add to the show.Episode 1 has original commercials!If you want to go back in time and discover something that is like its new again,I highly recommend this dvd.

There's a certain live presence about the early videotape that makes it all seem brand-new. It's quite a discovery of a missing link after all the years I'd never come across Dark Shadows since it aired exactly a year after I was born. I'm amazed how the sounds, images, characters, and scenery work together so well on early VTR to make 1966 seem like just yesterday.

This is the first time I have seen Dark Shadows, ever. My wife asked me to order this set so she could see it again; and I watched the program with her so we could spend the time together. However, I am hooked!

Although the acting is a little primitive and choppy at the beginning, by the end of episode 35 I was engrossed in the plot and we agreed to purchase the next 4 DVD sets (e.g., Dark Shadows, The Beginning # 2, Dark Shadows, The Beginning # 3, Dark Shadows, The Beginning # 4, and Dark Shadows, The Beginning # 5.

We highly recommend this series.
